Welcome to Nottingham...

João Carvalho and Diogo Gonçalves

Record signing, record sponsorship deals, record season-ticket sales. What a statement of intent and it’s clear we’re going for promotion next season.
I’m salivating at the thought of Lolly, Carvalho and Gonçalves setting up a, yet to be signed big name striker.
While others in the league are away watching the World Cup, congratulations have to be given to the management team, that are working hard all summer to give the team the best opportunity.

Bring it on...

I just wonder how we came to know about these two. Did we scout them or did Mendes give Aitor a call one day "Aitor, I've got a couple of guys you might like" after Wolves had turned them down.

Has anyone seen them play or are we just going on video evidence?

Sorry to be a doom merchant and I probably worrying for nothing biut so much has gone badly over the last five years I sometimes think we are cursed.

Karanka may well have been scouting them himself, he was over in Spain I believe before being head hunted by the board.

Contrary to the waffle some fans of opposition teams spout, they are both very highly rated, Benfica fans are not happy about selling their talent.
Diogo Gonçalves is the more established and played in the Champions' League last season; hence why it's a loan with a view to buy as he would be in the 20m Euro bracket.

João Carvalho captains the Portuguese U21s and was reported to be on Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenals' radar last February (2017).
I initially baulked at the risk of the15m Euro price tag, but this risk is being mitigated by the long contract of 5 years. This helps with the FFP rules and amortisation of his value. What that also does is afford AK to spend maybe a similar amount on a striker.

Happy days

According to Paul Taylor. the fee for Carvalho is spread over 5 years. 3m euros a year Which in my eyes is really good business especially if he is as good as people say he is.

Quite rare to see someone get a five year contract but it seems a sensible way of managing the cost of the transfer. I wonder what his wages are, though? Intrigued to see them play.

All values are spread over the duration of the contract, so this time next year the value to NFFC will be 12m Euros, 9m after 2 years, etc.

Yeah let strett do the math.

If he is as good as the Portuguese day, his value should increase exponentially. We’ll see.

This time last year Jota, Neves, Miranda and Costa were all unknowns to me

Mendes told Wolves to sign them and now they preparing for premier league football 👍
