Is he going to prove that you can polish turds. I think not. He will have been given assurances regarding team strengthening. The bulk of the current squad are a result of trying to do it on the cheap. 13th place flattered us and we’re lucky the season ended when it did.

The squad lost its way, we were playing well at one point. The problem with Leeds United and most recent managers/coaches is that we were pretty much a one trick pony.

Out of all our players the one I’m most looking forward to seeing work with the new manager is alioski.

Just get a feeling he could push up several years under the new boss

An interesting read, one that will have an impact on who stays and who goes.
If this article is bang on, expect O’Kane to become magnificent with his engine!
We moan we don’t have specialists, more a depth across multiple positions because players (Berardi last year) have been forced to play out of position constantly. Could that be turned from our weakness to our main weapon? I can’t wait to at least see what a world class coach does with what we have already compared to previous coaches.

Bielsa brings with him a reputation for good coaching so theoretically, he is able to polish turds. On this basis, we shouldn't be letting anyone go because they performed poorly under two inexperienced coaches because Bielsa will develop any potential that has been hidden.

Having said that, I'd give O'Kane the heave-ho just for that "head butt" that got him sent off at Ipswich. The midfield needs looking at, for sure, but has done for a very long time - Forshaw and Viera to stay?

Pontus has been making noises, probably understandably, so it may be better to sell while we're ahead and establish a new spine. I'd definitely keep Paudie O'Connor over Cooper and it will be interesting to watch whether Ayling and Pearce can develop further under Bielsa.

And I'd keep Roofe because he was the only striker who really showed anything last season, even though he's just too small.

I wouldn’t be making final decisions based on videos and hearsay, that’s howvwebe actually hired so many lemons in the past.

Coach should meet everyone, outline his plans, see players train and then he’ll be in much better place to know for himself, as Jaz says, just because player hasn’t performed for a different coach doesn’t necessarily make him a bad player.

The only problem with this is that because appointment has happened late we are then limited on time for deciding squad composition.

If Beilsa has done all his homework and talks have been going on for while you would expect there to be a well defined target list, progress on which is now underway.

Wasn’t everyone saying Hernandez was going to sign at same time?

Agree with Jonty and to be frank Orta will have been questioned in each player in the squad, so may give a different impression than what was on the vids.for example “I brought him in to do this role but he was used in that role. The Coaching team say he is good at this, this and that but dire when played here .....”

So going to be fun watching and it seems Paudie is getting a new contract so obviously in the plans

Players are only due back in a week. Writing that he should meet them, see them train etc., before making decisions and then saying we are disadvantaged because his appointment was late is contradictory.

Were late because he has yet to see them in the flesh.

Do you think he should visit with them wherever they are on holiday?
