What’s everyone’s thoughts?
Surely if we want a striker Hernandez the better option?
Thought vydra more of a 10.
Can’t have both either.
Vydra preferred to Abel hernandez.

16/17 played as striker 5 goals in league.
17/18 played behind nugent or jerome - 22 goals
hes always struck me as a number 10.

Player of the season for Watford and was immense back that season. He's still at a good age too. He can only make our team better although he is a touch pricey.

i dont doubt vydra is decent.
i just dont want him and saiz as our 9 and 10.
got a feeling we might end up with a big lump up top and vydra behind him.
like at bilbao when he had llorente.

Both players are good and I would have both if money allowed.
However, if you do think of this in terms of money, Vydra will be upwards of £10m and Hernandez is on a free.
Either would potentially improve our attacking options, but getting Hernandez would leave us with more cash to further strengthen the squad.
To me it's a no-brainer to get Hernandez over Vydra given our budget limitations.
It is worth remembering that most transfer fees above a certain amount are spread over the subsequent three years or more, so £10m for Vydra might only translate as £3.3m out of this year's budget? I'm not entirely sure if the budget has been set as a total for signings or a total for this year though.

Absolutely right Hernandez would want a sizeable handshake, easily a few million. Do we then put him on £30-40k when people like Pontus are on £15k or so, creates massive disharmony.
I'm also a firm believer that (unless absolute worldie) the manager should be paid more than the players. Although they are "all professionals" a player on 10 times that of a manager (imagine Abel signing and Heck being coach) must lose a certain level of respect for the manager, it's natural.

Even with a golden handshake it's not going to be anywhere near £10m so it would still make better business sense.
As for the wage cap, I think it's already been reported that AR is prepared to make exceptions for the right players. It's the only way we're going to attract any quality players to the club.
As for the budget, hasn't AR already stated that the 49er's money at £10m is going into the transfer pot along with about £9m of the club's money?
Admittedly we don't know how flexible the budget can be, but they must have some idea how much Bielsa reckons he need to spend on players to play his style of football. He will have made sure that they will back his requirements prior to signing.

Vydra has mainly been used a striker I'm sure and him and Saiz are not weak! It's about quality at the end of the day.
Would prefer a powerful and quick and skillfull striker, but let's see how much money we have. Hernandez with a very decent back up , would do for me. If we have to rely on Roofe and Ekuban to fill in when Hernandez is injured, we'll struggle again.

What about Tyler Roberts? We may not need Roofe and Ekuban.
