Wenger is currently fulfilling his usual punditry obligations for some French news network covering the World Cup and his thoughts on Xhaka’s performance tonight is just enlightening ...
“Xhaka’s positioning has been poor and hasn’t been able to contain the Brazilian midfield."
Where was this cut-to-the-core of it insight whilst he was coaching him for the past 2 years? I’d love know what he thought of Iwobi’s performance or Ozils (For what it is worth I didn’t think El Neny was too bad).
Honestly though, has Wenger taken off the tinted glasses and seeing some of his old charges for what everyone else has been saying they are? Or does he really think Xhaka’s positioning for country is different from his club form?

What’s crazier, Wenger being unable to see it or being unable to coach him into a better player positionally?

I couldn’t watch the game. How was Lichtsteiner? Listened to the end on radio, heard he got cramp toward the end

He's gone man. FFS, let it go.

what logic is this. I'm sure Wenger tried. But it became obvious he's coaching wasn't being applied very well. Xhaka was well average first half, passing was off too. Second half was better.
Ozil was Germany's best player today.

It is not wise to extrapolate performances in the world cup to how players are going to perform at club level.

Was about to say how weirdly timed his comments would have been as Xhaka actually played well.
Old man Lichtsteiner has Neymar in his pocket too
