EL Qualifying - Rangers v FK Shkupi

1st round EL qualifying starts with us at home to the Macedonians on July 12

They finished 4th in the Macedonian league last year and this is their 1st ever European tie. Play in a 6000 capacity stadium in Skopje

They beat PSV home and away last year so don't think they will be any mugs.

Cracking player. Dodgy off field problems. But deserves a chance. Very solid which is what we need as a back 4.

I'm a bit torn on signing him. But the fact is Rangers need good players and he is a good player

Decent draw for us two potentially winnable ties if we turn up and are on top of our game we should make the 3rd round

Flanagan improves us. We’re not in a position to pass up players like him regardless of off field issues

“I don't have a problem at all. I just don't see where we will be able to schedule in more games with our current schedule.

We are in Spain this week, and then home. Do you suggest we then go back and forward overseas for open door friendly games on top of the travel we have for Spain and then the Euro games? I would have thought playing closed doors locally would be just as worthwhile. Whether they are public or behind closed doors makes no difference to the exercise, you still get match sharpness.

Whatever Celtic choose to do is up to them, their situation is quite different to ours and they are choosing to go abroad in a couple of weeks whereas we have chose to go now.

I don't really see how”

The point I was trying to make is that we’ve chose to go to Spain. I know we are in Spain for clarity. Again, I know we are in Spain for complete avoidance of doubt.

But we chose to go to Spain. We chose to not play anymore friendlies ( official ones).

But we could have scheduled it so we were in Spain for 7 days instead of 10 and got an extra ibrox friendly in. Imo, it would do us good rather than another closed door game.

You retorted about how we are in Spain and can’t get friendlies. I pointed out that Celtic have a better schedule of friendlies before the 12th . We didn’t hsve to go to Spain. We didn’t hsve to go for 10 days.

All I was saying was imo we could have lined up more frIrndlies to get the new players and manager and the team as a whole gelling.

Was a fairly basic point and I’m not sure where you were going with the whole travel here there n everywhere crap

“Btw worth noting that Celtic's schedule sees them playing 7 games in 3 countries in 14 days. That for me isn't anything to try and replicate.

Again I didn’t say replicate celtics. I used them as an example when you were saying it’s too early to line up friendlies as folk were still on holiday. They clearly weren’t.

We linked with any strikers? Could do with getting one in before these games or is Gerrard playing the waiting game trying to get Solanke on loan?
