BBC responds TO Sir Alan Sugar

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44544897

The BBC said in a statement: "Lord Sugar has acknowledged this was a seriously misjudged tweet, and he's in no doubt about our view on this. It's right he's apologised unreservedly."

It goes on to announce new Apprentice:

This is what happens when you surround yourself with people who laugh at any joke you make because you're rich, famous and powerful.

No need to apologise for a good meme.

Liberal bigots spoiling good comedy as usual.

It’s more of a cultural reference than a skin colour one. Your looking for racism where none exists.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Was it really?

There was no reference to the stereotype of black African men selling stuff on Spanish beaches?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
As opposed to white African men?

It was not funny......heard a betting group used the original picture/ comment, and Sugar liked it?I

Perhaps if Sugar was black or African, he could have said this, which is also opening up debate on race/comedy/identity, where much of politics and media lives today.

But again, not funny and could be offensive!

Not sure about racist, but who knows anymore?

Frankie Boyle probably says worse on his political shows on the BBC.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Like what?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't know, but I assume you're familiar with Frankie Boyle?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Very. His humour is miles away from what Sugar said.

Exactly!

Maybe he wanted the shock factor, but not this much of one!

Very stupid in light of the whole Roxanne debacle

Lol when Jeremy made a small quip against the Jews he was accused of being a neo na zi. I think the outrage is more over Sugars doube standards.
