Hi Winston matey. So in the group stage game between Australia and Denmark today, Australia were awarded a penalty for handball. You had stated that if a handball occurs VAR won't draw attention to it if the referee sees it and makes a call on it, as it meant it wasn't a clear and obvious error. I had said that if the referee believes it wasn't intentional, in the context of handball rules and VAR sees that it was and therefore a clear and obvious error was made, the referee would look at it and could change his mind, if he agrees. That is exactly what happened today.
It wasn't a case of the referee not seeing the handball as right after it happened he waved it away. VAR contacted him and he reviewed it, reversing his decision and awarding the penalty. So after your pages and pages of arguing, you were proven wrong again. What do you say matey? Of course you'll now admit you were wrong?

Think we first need to debate what the word 'wrong' can mean for two days.
I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say you're actually wrong toor and it's not Winstons fault that you interpreted that wrongly in the first place so in fact he's not wrong, you are, you just don't understand which version of wrong was wrong.

I predicted this.
I'm gonna predict his responses.
First he will say he has a life outside of here, unlike me and therefore isn't on here every second to comment.
Second he will say either the referee didn't see the handball or VAR was wrong and he is right.
It turns out he's banned from the Liverpool board so can't reply but let's see how close I was.

So here's my response:
Interesting article, TOOR.
I actually think there are two possibilities yesterday:
1. The referee may claim he didn't see it. Yes, he was looking at the incident but the 'handball' occurred behind the player and at speed, so this could well be the case.
2. The referee did see it and the VAR official asked him to review it.
If it is option 2. then you're right.
This is a bit tricky though, without any input from FIFA or the referee themselves.
Partly because they can't clear up 1. or 2. for us and also, because even if it were option 2, I genuinely believe the officials made an error yesterday and would love to hear their take on it.
I've been in two minds about how to word this because I like to be upfront, admit when I'm wrong etc. but equally where you're involved, you cannot do the same and we know from the thread you mention that you don't actually understand the handball law yourself.
On that very thread, you were wrong about how handball is adjudged and you were wrong to say that the linesman in the Stoke game made a mistake.
But, putting all of that aside and focusing on the VAR stuff specifically, I can see why you feel this backs your point up and yes, there's a very real possibility that is the case.

You are the person here who sees everything as black and white, and cannot admit when he's wrong.
I have no problem admitting when I made a mistake but it's far likelier to come in the form of a humble response if you're not prancing around like a schoolkid in the playground.
Unfortunately, your post history works against you here but I'd urge you to behave like an adult so that we can have a proper discussion.
Then again, I know from your errors re: Suarez and the Stoke handball that this is unlikely.
