Hey fellow secret agents that got your attention! Not sure if this will even get through - not just because of dubious internet connection - but because we are being watched and monitored by two burly looking, officious, blokes in trench coats and its a heatwave out here. Well, we'd all love to be in a Bond film.
Anyway, just want to say that we are at the Boss bar in Nizhny and we said to the owners we would give a big shout out to the whole world to come here at least once in your lives. Gonna have to go now as here come the vodkas!

I've said many times on this forum that Russian people are warm and friendly and it's a wonderful country to visit, and even better to get to know well.
However, the negative stories are not just 'xenophobic press'. The Russian state is corrupt and brutish. There is a very unpleasant side to the nationalist politics that currently prevails. In my experience you often find the nicest people living under the worst governments.

In most countries the people are generally lovely and very friendly.
It is the governments that you have to watch out for, especially in places like Russia, China etc.
