Vydra AND Hernandez?

A lot of rumours and suggestions that we are after Abel and if we can't get him we will go for Vydra.

I was never convinced by this. Isn't Vydra more of a 10?

Abel more of an out and out striker.

I don't understand why it's one or the other. Logic would say Vydra would be the hole in that free role behind Abel.

All speculation but never got it.

West Brom apparently have been told he'll cost them 11 mil. We won't be paying that for Vydra.

We will probably not sign Hernandez because his wages demands will be too high, Vydra will cost too much, pretty sure these are the kind of players that we will need to bring in to be up there.
Getting in a big name manager is all well and good but without the financial backing he will struggle.

Load of bull.

If your manager is as good as they say then why would you need to throw a load of money at it?

A certain unknown (at the time) German coach got out of that league spending less than £7M in total (and nothing in transfer fees on strikers) because he's an exceptional coach.

But 99 out 100 time’s you don’t get out like Hudders did, a huge amount of luck is required. Zero goals in the playoffs too.

We were the only club to be in the top 6 for the entire season. Whilst we got our fair share of luck in the play offs, we were comfortably one of the best 3 sides in the league and deserved everything we got. Teams couldn't handle us at times. A lot of our single goal victories were flattering to the opposition.

People talk like we snuck in on the final day and had no shots at goal in 3 play off games

But that's all irrelevant. The fact is that if your manager is good enough he'll prove it without needing a load of blank cheques. Ours did.

It really depends on your squad surely Champers, we have far too many players who are not good enough, we desperately need investment up front but there is no indication that that is forthcoming.
Not talking about blank cheques, talking about the financial commitment in the squad which reflects the stated aims of the owner. We have signed a kid to supplement our U23's and nobody else.

Bringing in a top named manager but making do with a team that other than a few weeks at the beginning of the season were amongst the worst in the league isn't going to get us there.
'Udders model is a one off.

I get the points you're making elsbels, but there are plenty of Championship teams who have thrown "loadsamoney" about, and they're still there. Forest, Wednesday, Derby have been doing it for a while and the latter two are now in a much weaker position for it. Villa have thrown astronomical amounts around and now they're in dire straights.

You say the Huddersfield model is a one off, but it isn't; it was replicated at an even higher level the season before by Leicester. The reason both teams achieved the impossible was down to playing to the strengths of the team, and above all else, team spirit. If the playing staff buy into the vision of the manager and feed off the passion of the supporters, then it is proven that the sky is the limit.

A good coach also makes average players good and good players great. Tommy Smith was a player most Town fans would have driven to a new club at one stage. 12 months under Wagner and he was considered the best right back in the league by his peers. He's now the captain of a Premier League club who once again upset all the odds by staying up.

You need to know your boss really has what it takes to achieve success in the Championship. If he spends big and it doesn't work, he'll still walk away with all the money he's due, and you'll be in an even bigger mess than you think you were last season.

If Bielsa can use his contacts at other clubs, we could emulate what they did by getting good Premier League and other top overseas club's fringe players. Along with our better players, top quality season long loan players would improve our team a lot.
NO overseas lower league players should be considered again, as we know from last season that does not work.

Wagner being able to get very good loanees like Elias Kachunga, Aaron Mooy, Danny Ward, Kasey Palmer and Isaiah Brown and an unknown star like Schindler for £2m helped Town immensely.

Here's hoping for something special this coming season, as I don't think I can take another season like the last one.

Of course it's doable, but I am not talking about loads of money being sprayed about, I would like to see any commitment.
Our guys make empty gestures, we bring in a manager with all the right credentials and then, if Shaun is right, baulk at backing him.
It's reported that Bielsa wants Vydra, his kind of player, do not know where that comes from, but no indication that we are actually going to get him or similar.
I wouldn't bet against us starting next season with a very toothless attack.
