Puel strenthens his position

So Appleton replaced by another Frenchman Allez le Bleu so reports of his demise bit premature.

I think it's a good move assuming this guy will work well with Claude, and he can only be there because Puel wanted the change.

Clearly we shouldn't stop there, looking forward very much to our new French DoF.

The usual ramblings of a poster who wants to have the same argument with the same fans over and over and over again.

BS you would know all that all you are concerned about is the number of stars you get,got anything to add to the debate?

Don't think he strengthens his position at all, only the first 6 or so games will do that.
Anyway its more like Appleton was sick of it and wanted out.

What debate?! All you want to do is to post articles to bait posters or try and prove you’re right about Puel.

We all know he’s staying. At some point he was going to bring his own no.2 in. It doesn’t change anything, if he approaches games next season like he did for the last half of this season then he’ll be sacked in October. I don’t want that. No one wants that. It’s just bad for the club.

There you go that wasn't hard.

It’s stating the bleeding obvious.

Regarding Appleton himself, I'm not overly fussed either way. His record in management is not one of someone who is a manager-in-waiting for a club that wants to see itself as a top 10 club and European challenger. But the players looked fit through to the end of the season so he must have been doing something right. There was never any obvious, open issue between him and Puel, although you never know in private. The statement from the club reads like the club moved him on, but again these things are always vague.

What it does signal is an apparent move away from having a first team coach who is to some degree apart from the manager, which was his position and Shakespeare's before him under Ranieri. I can see why Nev says this makes Puel's position strengthened as it makes it more difficult to find a temporary manager if they do look to replace him. However, I have no doubts that they would seek to find a way regardless if we do get in trouble next season. Perhaps Jon Rudkin with Mike Stowell as assistant?
