Last man challenge rule change...

Is a joke?

Croatia weren't brilliant but they had an open goal and were cynically hacked down at the end.

The rule change means that defenders can attempt any sort of tackle from any angle without any worries of being sent off as long as they are "trying to get to the ball". Doesn't matter if it's a cynical challenge from behind that is unlikely to win the ball.

How exactly does this favour the attacking team? The pen is worse than having an open goal to tap in to. The defending team get a chance to prevent a goal with minimal punishment.

If Croatia went out that would have been incredibly harsh on them.

There would not be a decision to make if it is impossible to have more than one outcome.

They were reviewing it to see if he got the ball. Ergo, they do not think it is impossible to do so from that position

They review every decision...

Would they review a handball claim if the player had no arms?

If the ref gave a penalty, yes.

They obviously think:

A. He can get the ball from that position

B. He made a genuine attempt to get the ball.

If A was not true, it would be a red card after review as B would be impossible.

It would be them reviewing it if the ref hadn't given a handball.

Reviewing something which is impossible

They wouldn't review it because they can see there is no infringement because the player has no arms ffs.
No decision made, no foul made, so no review.

So they would not review something that is impossible?

They should not have reviewed that challenge then if there is no chance of getting the ball lawfully

EVERY PENALTY DECISION IS REVIEWED.

Every one is reviewed because there are no impossibilities.
