Jonathan Liew of the Telegraph......
"Now he’s just another talented s*****k warming the padded car seats of the superclub subs bench, hoping people notice him"

Pep hardly used Bernado Silva last season despite him being the engine behind Monaco title win.
Could he be making way for Mahrez?

B Silva and Sterling were behind Citys title win both played important roles.B Silva scored important goals including at the Emirates, and the 1-0 win over Chelsea
Mahrez will fit in as and when, maybe more central would be more use of he can fill in for KDB and D Silva

he'll start most games in place of sterling, wont be a regular bench warmer that's for sure

Interesting article Miami
Unfortunately It is how football is. Good players would sooner sit on a super clubs bench, than be an automatic regular at a 'lower' prem club ( even if that club has won the prem two tears ago).
Ask Drinkwater.
Oh for the days of the Matt Le Tissiers of this world

btw hope Nevs not read this article. He doesn't like suggesting Riyad will be a benchwarmer

The Author seemed a bit bitter to me.

He could be right or Mahrez could be the missing piece for a CL win.

Is that the same Bernado Siva that made 53 appearances for the Champions last season?

It will be interesting to see how Mahrez gets on at Man City. It’s difficult to see him being indulged like he was at Leicester if he has too many of those games when he simply goes missing. The balance to that, however, is that opposition teams won’t be able to double, or triple, mark him by identifying him as the creative outlet. There are too many others in that Man City team to worry about.

I hope he does well and he certainly has the natural talent to succeed. I think it’s one of those 50/50 ones and might depend how well he starts.

The dilemma for players is leaving a club where they’re almost guaranteed starters to potentially sitting on the bench at another team. If you look at it from their point of view you can’t blame them for backing their talent to push for trophies. The case for Mahrez looks far stronger than our other title winner - Danny Drinkwater - who will surely struggle for much game time now Jorginho has landed.

I just wonder if the time is right for selling teams to get a bit cuter with “first refusal” or “buy back” clauses for some of these transfers that might go wrong for the players who fail to break through.

Some really good points Joby. I think Mahrez has to back himself and can’t turn down the best team in the league right now. But equally it could all Drinkwater on him and he just wastes away on the bench.

If so, a buy back clause could be good for player and selling club.

Don't know how fan's and player's would react to someone coming back because they haven't made the grade at a bigger? Club.
