With BTG still missing in action I am happy to run with the Predictor League again for the forthcoming season.
I took on BTG's rules from before and previously he had been open to changes and improvements and I think it is only right that I do the same
The season starts on Saturday 4th August. The rules previously were
Each week there will be six fixtures from the weekend for league games only. If there is a midweek card those fixtures will be included. Any re-arranged games are likely to figure as well. During the course of the season there will be at least two guaranteed double fixture game weeks.
A correct prediction for the result of a match will gain you 3 points. If you get the margin of the score correct but not the correct score you will get 4 points. If you pick the correct score then you will get 5 points.
Again during the season you have two jokers to play. A joker will get you double points on that game week. It is up to you when you want to use it but it must be clearly stated at the time of making your predictions that you are using your joker. Last season using a joker in a double game week did not prove to be fruitful.
Predictions must be made before kick off. If there is an early match and that is missed then predictions made for the remainder of the matches will be accepted as long as they are made before kick off.
I will take the most recent predictions. This allows you to make early predictions to get something on the board and then amend closer to the time.
If you miss a game week you will be awarded the lowest score that was scored in that game week. If you miss four weeks in a row you will be deemed to be no longer taking part.
Are we happy to keep them as they are or change things?
Scoring - 10 pts for exact score, 5 points for margin and 3 for result would lead to better credit for exact scores but risks big gaps in table and players stopping predicting if too far behind.
Jokers - Set double weeks rather than pick and choose? If a third of games are called off for poor weather then Joker is void and can be reused?
Games - only league games or include cup weekends? 5 games from Premiership and 1 from Championship when Dundee Utd are playing. Midweek games only when there is a full Premiership card on?
Other ideas (taken from the English predictor league) - a double score fixture every week (I'm not a fan TBH)?
Missed weeks - continue with lowest score or give average score for the 3 weeks then they drop to zero?
I am open to ideas and suggestions. As always we should go with the majority and not what just one person thinks is a good idea (ie not what I think should happen)

I get your point on replays but from a purely selfish POV that will be difficult to keep on top of

might enter this year.....
if my world cup sweep is anything to go by then last place can be secured.

ok the only thing that split you was the scoring
so
Correct score - 5pts
Correct margin - 4pts
Correct Outcome - 3pts
or
Correct score - 10pts
Correct margin - 5pts
Correct Outcome - 3pts
I'll be honest and say I'm a fan of the bigger scores. You can be mid table but have a belter of a week and find yourself right up the table.
Big gaps may look - well - big! But they are quicker to surmount than the 5,4,3 scoring

I'll keep the lowest score as is, same as the Jokers. As was neatly put - take a guess at the weather if you are playing a Joker.
I will make sure I put when the double weeks are expected to be on the main article when I post it

I wouldn't say I have a strong feeling on the scoring but if I had a gun to my head I'd go for the bigger scores.
