Seems like ages ago since Zlatan was

our main man.

How does Lukaku's first season compare to Zlatan's in your honest opinion?

Micky was responsible for a lot actually

And Lukaku had a good first season. Statistically had a better chance conversion rate than Kane

Had a lean spell from Oct to Dec I think but was pretty consistent in terms of scoring. People talk about his league goals but he got 5 CL goals and plenty of FA cup ones as well as had some top notch assist stats

He’s deffo one of the better stories of the Jose reign and hopefully he smashes it this season

Zlatan's 28 goals for United

I'd forgotten how many came from outside the box, and quite a few assists from balls over the top from Pogba.

He did miss a few but he did also know how to be a leader and drag us out of a mess in a big game.

I like Lukaku and I think he had a good first season. If we have any chance of winning the league, we will need a 25-30 goals from him, and others to chip in too.

A lot of Zlatan's goals came from being in the right place at the right time. If he can just get in better positions, he can score a few more tap ins to beef his tally up. I don't expect him to score worldies every game.

Agree with Robb, and better than I thought he would be

Pretty much same squad as last year. The difference will be Pogba and whether he will be positonally free to burst forward like he can.

A interesting season ahead with everyone strengthening up except a certain team with a new stadium.

I thought Lukaku was better tbh. Zlatan was constantly offside and contributed less to the team as a whole, due to slowing things down constantly.

We have bigger problems than that though. The same problem in both seasons was that we didn't have enough goals coming from elsewhere. Does anybody really see us scoring enough goals to challenge, given that we struggle to get any player hitting double figures for goals in a season (league wise)? I hope Sanchez can address that to an extent, but am not convinced we will have enough goals coming from other areas to supplement Lukaku. Particularly when he goes through a lean spell, which he invariably does

I suppose we can only ask sanchez to step up. Martial never gets a consistent run in the team. Lingard is a scorer of great goals but not a great goalscorer, and Pogba plays too deep to contribute double figures, so after that we are just hoping that the goals come from other areas, but we are not the kind of team to that attacks with the philosophy that anyone can score. We play with a target man.

Yeah pretty much. It's as much a problem of how we set up tactically as it is personnel. But it is a bit of both. And I doubt it'll change at all next season. Hoping for a pleasant surprise

Pogba imo will get double figures. He got 6 goals last season but will have Fred to help him get forward

I really hope he does. He is capable. I just hope we can recreate some of the football we played at the start of last season.

Zlatan did well, but he and Lukaku went through a period of not scoring and we didn't have anybody that stepped in. In both cases they were played back into form. Something that's not afforded to other members of the side. Mhiki had decent stats at the beginning of the season, and Lukaku got on the end of those, but he Lukaku was also getting help from others. Mhiki was poor last season but his stats were impressive for the first few games.

Lukaku can do better. As many said, we don't really play to his strengths.

Great sides have more than one goal scorer. We need others to step up. Sanchez needs to find form. Lingard needs to be more consistent. Etc.
