Extraordinary statement from Ozil today ending his German international career.
Does racism still exists in football and is it a reflection of society as a whole? He’s not the only one.
Benzema: ‘When I score I’m French, when I don’t I’m an Arab’
Lukaku: ‘When things were going well, I was Lukaku the Belgian striker...when they weren’t going well, I was the Belgian striker of Congolese descent’
Ozil: ‘When we win, I am German. When we lose, I am an immigrant’
Is there a strong racial undertone to the criticism players of ethic minorities receive in Europe from the press.Never empathy when they don't play well. Just denigration.Pogba,Ozil,Lukaku &Sterling suffer it more than most. Football media (in general) full of racist??
Ozil quits due to racism

Too many people on both sides use "free speech" as an excuse to be a cant and say canty things.
You can have your free speech but it doesn't mean there won't be any repercussions to what you say, you can't simply claim free speech then say whatever you want with no consequence.
Like you're free to call me a cant, but if I punch you in the face for doing it don't be surprised.

Yes but only one of us would be arrested for that.

asinine as saying hatred and racism are different things and you cannot label racism as hatred. They are not different, mutually exclusive things. This doesn't mean they are synonymous terms, but they are not different things, you cretin.
=========================
xenophobia and racism are not the same thing.

Basically an ex player has said ozil under performed and people are associating that with xenophobia.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ozil didn't even under perform at the WC. He's been average for years and those were his standard performances now.
I'm not sure what future he would have in the national team even had he chose not to retire. He'll be 30 in a few months so doesn't have age on his side either.

Not necessarily. For example you can be fine with a white Pole but feel a black Pole is inferior to you.
You keep calling people stupid and children for not having your incorrect definition. Read a book. Seriously, it will help.
-----------------------------------------------
All you have just said up there is that xenophobia is not NECESSARILY racism, which isn't different from what I am asserting. The fact I'm asserting is that xenophobia is MOSTLY driven at its core by racism. I can't for the life of me understand how this is somehow disputable.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No. All I have shown is that you can be racist without being xenophobic. You can also be xenophobic without being racist.
You don't like black or white Poles but like black and white Brit's.
It's true that most xenophobes will also be racist as they hate anybody different to themselves and think they are superior but they are different things, hence having different meanings.

Insulting Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the venerated founder of modern Turkey, remains a criminal offense, and laws protecting his legacy are being robustly applied by Turkey’s religious conservatives who have governed unchallenged since 2002. The latest violator was a 23-year-old woman who was arrested on July 22 for publicly declaring her hatred of the national hero.
=============================
This sort of nonsense is why free speech is so important.
This is what ozil took a photo with.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They have the same thing in Thailand with their archaic 'Lese Majeste' whereby someone was recently jailed for thirty years for insulting the new King's dog,there is no place for this nonsense in a modern society.
Like Turkey in Thailand it is used by the military junta/dictatorship to jail political opponents on trumped up charges,how Turkey can ever expect to get into the EU with its woeful human rights record is beyond me,just a simple watch of 'Midnight Express' will prove to anyone that it's a place to steer well clear of!

Yeah, "free speech" is important, but apparently, free association isn't. The damn Queen of England and the PM can meet Erdogan (who might be a wannabe tyrant, but is hardly Stalin or Hitler) or any Middle Eat despot, but how dare Ozil meet the leader of his country of origin?
The funny thing is most of Ozil's most rabid critics are on the German far right, among whom figures like Putin are more popular than the average German. They don't give a sheite than Ozil consorted with Erdogan. They were just looking for a reason to question the "Germanness" of an easy target and scapegoat - the languid, Muslim Turk. Then to top his woes, he then got personal criticism from their FA bosse, Grindel, and Bierhoff who singled him out after the World Cup. Yeah, his grievance is certainly unjustified.

Saying 'damn King of Thailand' online would get you jailed for thirty years over there!

also, many will argue that they/what they say is 'merely' xenophobic or anti-whatever.
like a murderer saying they are not a murderer but merely a killer.

Yet again, more nonsense from a person who doesn't understand what words mean
