Buying someone from a championship club, who im not sure will suit our game and isnt even THAT young, to me over £20million is ridiculous.

Problem though, needing homegrown players, we aint finding anything cheaper than that in the current market. I just hope we can get a deal done for him under £30 mill and he turns out okay. What worries me is that he will be our 'big' signing..
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He’s 23 in September ffs. People talking about his ‘potential’ as if he were 19. All this overblown hype because he’s english and he wears his socks low just mask the fact that other players around Europe are far further ahead talent-wise than he is at the same age. He’s about the same age most of us knew that Tom Carrol was shiiite

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think the potential factor carries a bit more weight than it would usually when you attach it to Spurs and Poch, given what he's been able to do with many of our mainly young players.

I don't exactly rate him that highly though, I'm more holding on to the hope that he'd surprise me, but as it looks like we're interested in him and doing fack all else, I wish we'd just get on with it and get him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The same Poch who got absolutely nothing out of dross like N’koudou, N’jie and Janssen? If Grealish was any good he wouldn’t still be playing in the championship and unable to get a cap for England in an era where debuts are handed out like STD’s on some Greek island in the summertime.

Thiago Alcantara
Pogba
Tielemans
Goretzka
Saul

Players who were/are playing at a far higher level than Grealish is at the same age.

If we keep thinking ‘tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow...’ with all our signings, we won’t win anythbig. Need to mix it up and think about the present and who can get the job done right now as opposed to who might do it eventually.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's not a miracle worker. There are going to be misses in amongst hits.

While I agree we could target other options, we may as well accept that between Levy and our scouts we're going for the less appealing options, but I'd still rather that than nothing, for the possibility you and I could be wrong (more you than me it seems) and he turns out to be a very astute signing.

All big clubs have that policy to find youth and develop. Its not confined to just us. Not sure why its under discussion.

Clearly he isn’t, hence why he should go after an established, quality CM as opposed to more ‘projects’. I’d rather have nothing than have him. He’s the sort of player we should have been going for about 10 years ago when we were happy we were finishing 6th ahead of the likes of Blackburn and Everton, not now when we’re trying to retain our status as a title challenger and a CL regular.

A bit off topic but anyone else confused by why Ince has left Huddersfield to go play championship football for Stoke

obviously considers himself a championship player and so do I

Upper-championship or lower-Prem is Ince’s level. Huddersfield are one of those teams who play no football so it’s no surprise he didn’t perform there.

Eriksen took several seasons to show his true quality. He's been brilliant the last 2 years but probably labelled as good and improving before that. Now 26. Grealish isnnonlong young but could certainly improve especially with quality around him. Definitely worth it at the right price.

I think everyone appreciates that we need at least 1 quality player to make a difference to the first XI. and that's assuming no one leaves. We haven't lost any yet but there must be a plan to either hold on regardless or have replacements teed up. If everything else stayed the same and we got in a quality attacker then we'd be well placed especially with Moura to add as a regular and the fit return of Winks and Lamela. Basically 3 players we saw little of last season.

It's not all doom and gloom but we need quality attacking cover which will also raise everyone's spirits
