0-1

Tidy finish from Yates after Guedioura expertly flicked on Carvalho’s free-kick into the box.

I had forgotten about Lamm to be fair. He had a good season in Holland apparently so that appears to have convinced Karanka to have a look at him.

Sounds like Forest were well in control of this one. Scunny barely threatened and were kept at arms length. Still need to work on that finishing, though.

Bournemouth at the CG on Saturday will definitely be the better barometer of how well Karanka has things gelling so far. Hope to see a bit of Grabban against the team he has played for twice.

In other news, the Forza Garibaldi banner that was raised before the Derby game last season has been made a permanent fixture of the middle part of the Trent End this season separating the upper and lower tiers. Looks very classy. 👍🏼

Regarding Tommy Lam; this time last year Vellios was getting plenty of game time (and scoring a few goals) in pre-season friendlies but wasn't really used in real games. I suspect the same will happen to Tommy.

I think he is just playing when he does in the hope that a scout will take a fancy to him. If that doesn't happen he will spend this season in the U23s or on loan.

With regard to last nights game, I didn't go but it sounds like our biggest problem is still that we don't score the goals that would reflect our domination in phases of the game. This could be critical in some of our tougher games - get it sorted and we will turn more draws into wins. Three or four extra points come next May could make all the difference.

Tails in the NP said they controlled the game but struggled to shift through the gears quickly enough to make the most of their chances. It is pre-season, though, so it’s too early to be that worried, I hope. Grabban hasn’t played that much yet so I think when the real business starts, he is likely to be first choice striker.

It would be good to see BB getting back amongst the goals now the pressure is off.

I expect to see him getting twenty minutes at the end of games.

England have been knocked out of the tournament so he should be back imminently.
