I first posted this comment on the 'Marriott is a Ram' article, but since it is of more general (though linked) substance I thought it merited being a topic of its own.
You can see the problems of the first Darren Wassall season writ large. ie how to keep so many aspiring footballers happy.
We could pick two teams :-
Team A and Team One. (no significance in the titles or the players included or not)
Team A - Mitchell, Baird, Ollson, Pearce, Forsyth, Thorne, Johnson, Bryson, Ledley, Butterfield, Martin.
Team One - Carson, Wisdom, Keogh, Davies, Lowe, Huddlestone Lawrence, Hanson, Jerome, Marriott, Vydra (will be sold) or Mount and plenty of others.
Frank will have to be a superb man-manager to keep the dressing room happy.
Man Management Problem Bigger than Ever

I even forgot Marriott in my list of players! That puts at least one of Nugent or Jerome on the sell list.

We are also heavily linked with Evans at Reading so don’t assume Ledley and Johnson are all that safe.

If Waghorn comes in you could probably assume both may be on their way

Also there is Thomas pushing hard for a place. Notwithstanding what Vidal says above I still think it will be a problem. Not that any manger can expect to be problem free.

Waghorn, Marriott, Bennett, Josefzoon at a push. An injury or two and we look a bit light up front. Lampard might want the reassurance of one more. Martin’s illness may mean he doesn’t leave and that might end up being good for us later in the season. And it’s doubtful if we will shift all those that ideally we would like to anyway.

I expect Mel is looking at many outs. The ones Vidal mentions can see the writing on the wall - I expect.

The redemption of Butters. 👍

I had Thomas in my list Ramdini. You’re right, and as it stands a lot of players won’t get in the match day 18 for weeks at a time. We can’t have 3 or 4 midfielders, 3 or 4 wide players and 3 or 4 strikers on the bench after all. The loanees will expect to play or at least be in the match day squad. Players like Bogle, Bennett, Thomas are less likely to throw a strop if they are left out but the more experienced ones won’t be happy.

I don't know that I'd call it a problem, I think this is just a standard part of every managers job at whatever level you play.
Even with my youth teams, we had a squad of 18/20, only 16 could got to games so you often had to leave 2/4 at home and then you've got to pick 11 form 16 to start.
Some will get peed off and leave. But the ones you want to stay are the ones who really fight for their place and work hard to get better.
As a manager, so long as they all know what is expected of them and what they can expect from you, (ie fairness and honesty) there's precious little more that you can do.
