Drinkwater to return?

Seen a few reports now that we're close to a deal with Chelsea to bring Drinkwater back for around £20 million.

Good Business or just another average midfielder on top of all the others we have?

I always saw Danny as a fair weather player, brilliant on his day and when we're on top but goes missing when the going gets tough ( lets face it, they'll be more of that this coming Season ), I guess Vardy would probably welcome it, he might actually get some kind of decent service assuming Puel allows Drinky to pass it forwards of course.

I’d be ok with Drinkwater returning for the reasons Joby has laid out. He’d be a good player to sit in front of Iborra and/or Ndidi to link the play and get us moving forward. Something which was clearly lacking in making Puel’s system work.

But should Silva be able to do that better and wasn’t he technically his replacement? Is there a need for both?

We seriously need to clear some players out as well as being some in. After our window started really well, I’m now concerned things have stalled both in and out and we’re gonna go in to the season with an unbalanced and bloated squad.

We don't need another CM. Buy a CB and a quality no 10.

No Drinkwater return he wanted out so he's out

If King & James go before the window closes, then , yes to bringing Drinkwater back.

I started reading that and I thought it was going to say: “if King and James start the first game..... “

Now that would be depressing!

I walked past Andy King on Queens Road the other day, he looks surprisingly young.

Parked his Range Rover illegally though.

I wouldn't be against this - Drinkwater was part of the title winning side after all and he'd feel like he has something to prove after a wasted season at Chelsea.

However, it would have to be a replacement for someone as we're overloaded in centre mid, so I'd be happy if we replaced Iborra with Drinkwater as I don't think Iborra is going to work out for us.

Am I the only person who rates Iborra?

I think he’s easily our second best midfielder behind Ndidi.

Yes he’s not all action Ndidi, but he never gives the ball away, always finds his man and can be very progressive if players ever make a run past him when Puel lets them!

For me he looks far more adept to the Premier League than silva has, and James and King (sorry Dunge) ever will.

He and Maguire can also cause havoc from set pieces England style!

We don't need him! I wish we'd stop signing midfielders.

No, I think he has massive potential as well if used correctly.

I think the problem is he's seen as being instrumental in the dire slow sideways midfield play we saw last season where as I'd say he followed instructions very well.
