It's clear as day that Jose is molding our team around a 532 formation. Look at the personnel we have and who we are reportedly trying to buy. He's stocking up on CBs, neglecting our need for a RW and has played the formation in all our friendlies thus far.
Tbf, the formation ensures all our players play in their 'favoured' positions so I guess that's a plus. Just seems so damn defensive under Jose's style of play.

Even a shiyte cross can still be classed as 'hitting the target' though if a striker manages to crane his neck and get a touch, doesn't mean it was a decent chance.
I just go by watching matches, they are not at the level we need any more imo.
Still, I believe we can improve still as a team even if we have to suffer the same full backs this season, and I will have to hope there is more to come from Shaw, and potentially Dalot for the second half of the season.

With the likes of Lukaku, Fellaini, Pogba and Matic potentially in the box, we probably have an advantage over most teams in terms of the receiver end of the crossing accuracy statistic. Having said that, Young undeniably has a decent delivery.

But young is 33. He simply doesn't have the pace or energy to get himself into dangerous positions often enough anymore.
Can someone remind me again why we sold Rafael? Bit hot headed but the potential was definitely there!

This will be a horrible season if this is true. Our "wing backs" still won't pass the halfway line, like when we matched up with Spurs and nicked a 1-0.

Aside from not having the best personnel in terms of full-backs, my worry about 3-5-2 is it easily becomes 5-3-2 and depending on how much we're being pushed back, it can essentially become a back 8 or 9, with the frontmen completely isolated and when we're forced back like this, we really struggle to pass our way out.
Also, as we seen with England at the World Cup, teams that are strong in the wide areas can really take advantage of this system because England's midfield were tasked with covering a huge amount of lateral space against Croatia which they couldn't possibly do, it completely killed the midfield and Croatia were able to overload the wide areas at will. Southgate though should've really identified this problem in the 2nd half.
I'm hoping Dalot can make a good impression early on because he looks fairly adept at crossing from either side and with either foot and looks quite direct and powerful so if he can force his way into the team quickly that might be beneficial, especially to Lukaku.

Young would have to play lwb. Shaw is hopeless. Young assisted something like 7 tines last season, shaw has about 3 in his whole career.
