....and once again we are starting to be linked with Patrick Roberts !
I was told by someone last week that they had heard he would be signing for us on a permanent deal by the end of the English transfer window. Although the source is apparently decent I just assumed it was wishful thinking again. The papers are now reporting brendan’s comments on him which suggest there is indeed real interest from Celtic.
I’ve said before that if we can we should break the bank for Roberts- the most naturally gifted player I’ve ever seen at Celtic. Reports say he was available for between 10-12 million to Leicester - it’s possible.
The thought of Edouard Dembele Griffiths Roberts Forrest Sinclair with a couple of promising young players like Arzani and Morgan and youth like Mikey Johnstone doesn’t add up though ? Not sure how so many top players could be kept happy ?
Rogic in the No10 role is a great player but Roberts can also play there. All speculation but Brendan’s quotes now confirm Celtic are looking to bring him in.
Not sure I can take the emotional rollercoaster of speculation for the third time with this boy!
Please god make it happen
(Rodgers said: “I think Patrick is one of those players you look at and then you see what happens over the next period of time. “He has obviously been away with Man City and he is there but our eyes are open to lots of options.
“He was unfortunate last year because early on he sustained a really bad injury and it was then obviously difficult for him. But he is a fantastic player and we are always going to be interested in top class players.
“That is maybe where the advantage will come with the window down south shutting down early.
“By that stage players will know where they are at their own clubs. So it is just a case of looking and waiting to see what happens.")
It’s this time of year....

I think I read that he was open to a permanent deal last time round but city weren’t - not a lot he can do if the club he’s with wouldn’t sell.

That ship has sailed as far as I am concerned. Thought he was supposed to be going to some mid ranking EPL team (Leicester????) a wee while ago.
Musonda & Roberts (injured) last year never worked out. Let's move on. Denayer would be welcome back if there's any truth in the rumours.

Seriously Izzy ? Roberts is an outstanding player - injured for the large part of last season but his contribution in the season before was incredible. It’s a win win in terms of what he can bring to the team and his resale value.

Now denayer would be good. Always thought he was better than Virgil.

Their contrasting career paths prove otherwise 👍

Foddy.....yeah.... Think his heart is set on an EPL move.

Yeh but I’m not sure the top teams would want him st this point. Suppose the league itself is an appeal right enough.
For Celtic though he would be a brilliant signing in IMO

If I though he'd be able to stay fit I'd be a bit more excited about the prospect, but he's been pretty fragile throughout his time at Celtic.
