Scatter coaches

Saw an article today from a Stoke fansite debating whether Leeds had broken rules in regards to coaches sitting in the stands. Coaches are required to sit in the technical area but photo's suggest that there were some placed around the East stand. One Stoke fan said he saw a few of them scattered about.

Imo it's cheeky but quite clever. The extra eye's could be useful as is the ability to get messages across to the other side of the picture quicker is tactically quite smart.

Thoughts?

I'd agree with Sol but the letter of the law says nominated coaches are restricted to the technical area. There's an argument that Leeds United had 30,000 plus technical coaches in the stands......

If it was against the rules then you'd have to question written instructions being passed into the field of play by substitutes too.

Us lot are technical coaches it seems

I'm glad sarcasm is alive and kicking on here.....

Kicking and screaming to be exact. I do try and lighten the mood although I was the one who posted the article

If they were simply fans, then I suspect that in no time the players would have realized they were clueless with their comments and conclusions.

That's what happens for the referees.

If you employ 12 coaches, and only so many can be named on the bench, this so called rule suggests the other coaches are not allowed to watch the game live. There is no such rule.

Anyone can relay information to the bench via telephone from anywhere else or shout instructions free m round the ground. None can encroach from the side though unless they are in the technical area, and within the rules written

There is no rule

Standby!

Did a quick search for MLS rules and found the following:

"TEAM BENCHES

Both the Home Team and Visiting Team will be allowed a maximum of 17 individuals on their respective club benches (seven named substitute players, nine staff members, one club physician).

* If the Visiting Team has no Official Team Physician present, a maximum of 16 total individuals (nine staff and seven players) will be allowed on the bench.

* The Home Team will be required to have its Team Physician attend each MLS match and that individual will be seated on the Home Team bench.

** All such individuals seated in the bench area must be listed on the Official Match Roster

** Additional players or support staff may not sit or stand in the bench area or be on a secondary bench placed in, near or immediately behind the Technical Area.

Suspended players and/or coaches may not be in the bench area, locker room or on field level."

I also found this on that page:

GOOD BEHAVIOR INCENTIVE: A player will automatically reduce his yellow card accumulation total by one yellow card each time he appears in five consecutive matches without receiving a yellow card, red card or supplemental discipline in such matches. For clarity, a player cannot have a negative yellow card accumulation total; the Good Behavior Incentive can only reset to a zero-card total. This incentive will be automatically applied a maximum of three times throughout the course of the MLS Regular Season.

For example, if a player on his third caution of the season completes five consecutive matches without receiving a card or supplemental discipline, that player will have one yellow card caution removed from his cumulative total, leaving the player with a total of two yellow cards. This player now has two remaining Good Behavior Incentive opportunities for the MLS Regular Season. If that player completes five more consecutive matches without receiving a card or supplemental discipline, one more yellow card is removed from his cumulative total leaving the player with a total of one yellow card and one more Good Behavior Incentive opportunity.

Leeds players could never benefit from this, but quite interesting anyway.

off topic slightly but staying with the MLS. They trialled player commentary the other week. Brad Guzan was microphoned up and gave in game coverage, a bit like Jamie Redknapp at sky with news from the touchline Absolutely brilliant idea imo

Would have to have a few seconds delay to delete what he would say after conceding a goal.

One wonders how a Stoke fan was so aware of our coaching team that they managed to pick one of them out amongst a crowd of 30000.

More likely a Leeds fan barking out instructions of what he thinks the players should do.

Nope it was definitely someone they BOTH recognised & responded to. It was a coach.

Get on with you lot of do-gooders. I care not 1 jot how we win. My moral compass would be miffed for about 10 seconds, then celebrate the win.
