And im just wondering how on Earth we are planning to progress this season . We are left with pretty much the same first team squad + Fred (and Dalot if he surprises us) as last year.
I feel like for us to have even a moderately successful season (and by that I mean something of a title challenge and bit of progression in the CL), I reckon most if not all the following have to play out:
- Bailly's injury record to drastically improve
- Shaw to recapture some of his early promise
- Pogba to carry on his world cup form
- Fred to hit the ground running
- Sanchez to get back to close to his Arsenal form of 2 years ago
- An improvement from Lukaku
None of those are out of the realms of possibility but you have to be a real glass-half-full kinda guy to think they will all happen.
I wasn't fussed at all whether or not we signed a CB, so today was a bit 'meh' for me. I'm just shocked we didn't seem to be in the market for another full back.
Given there won't be an improvement in the playing style, it's really looking like Jose's last few months here right now.
Well, that wasn't great

I can see us droping a place and liverpool gaining two. Well be miles off city.
Jose will cop the blame but I guarantee this isnt all he asked for this summer.

Manager n board are drifting apart. It's not going to end well.

I think even if just Pogba and Sanchez hit top, consistent form, we'd be in for a marked improvement on last season. Probably enough for a title challenge (but in no way faves)

Fresh Sanchez with a rest and decent preseason under his belt.
Fred to add dynamism in midfield.
Pereira back after a very decent season in Spain.
TFM back and Dalot in as further squad options.
It's stronger and doesn't look as bad as many are making out to me.

Thanks Shugs; I'd missed that at work.
Not really sure about the wisdom of loaning him out again. Surely that'll leave us light at the back if we pick up a few injuries.
Hopefully there's a recall clause
