Dejan Lovren <sigh>

You never get to the bottom of this maverick. He’s full of power, ability and a spade load of guts and determination.

And then comes the brain fart.

He’s had a decent World Cup and it all looked set fair for him to settle in alongside VVD to see if he can finally be the player his talent suggests.

However the word is he’s pulled another flanker and he neglected to tell his club he’s come back from the World Cup with an injury that will keep him out for weeks.

I’ve no idea if this is right. I wonder if anyone else has heard these rumours? Where do you see Dejan’s furture going this season? Is he the man to take the mantle or will he be surplus to requirements by th end of the season?????

What say you?

Move this clown on, telling everyone how good he is and then that he can’t train let alone play. He’s like hey both have a bag full of errors in the locker.

We shouldn’t be going into a new season without a new CB to help VVD if we really want to challenge for silverware

Klopp is the dogs b0llocks for me but he was too stubborn for too long over the keeper situation and now the CB position could come back to haunt us

Not a rumour, lovren has said he has stomach issues and can't train.

Lovren a decent cb but over a 38 league campaign will cost you. Im glad we have gomez and hopefully matip back soon.

Lovren getting a bad rep I feel. He's a quality player, and Matip hasn't done anything yet to prove why people think he's better

Disagree. I think he has largely been good but then ruins it every so often with complete brain farts. The last 6 months saw those brain farts disappear. His overall game hasn't improved that much for me as it was already good but you can't have a CB who makes that many mistakes. If he has genuinely cut them out then that is fantastic. Seems more like the VVD effect to me though so worries if he is injured.

At the start of last season, Clyde was injured. Trent stepped up to the plate and took his chance. That's no reflection on Nathaniel. Dejan had, in the main, a good season. Not at the start though, and definitely not at Wembley against Spurs when he was hooked after 30 mins. That was a very public humiliation, there's no other way of putting it, and a lot of Reds remember that. Then came his regeneration(?) alongside VvD, no surprises there.

Then the WC, with his, "I'm the best defender in the world" shiiite. Then the injury, apparently not address by him nor his FA in the meantime.

Please step up to the plate, Joe. This is your chance son. Look what Trent did last year. Look where he is now.

I think that when fit Lovren is a guaranteed starter. Rightfully so too because as much as Gomez has potential, Lovren is the second best CB at the club.

However, there is a pretty big gap between Lovren and VVD and I’d like a player who was closer to VVD’s level. Think we all would. I’m pretty sure that if a top class CB were available then we’d be interested but it’s not that easy. Utd have been on the hunt for a CB all summer and come up with nothing.

I suspect Lovren will be our starting CB for some time to come yet.
