Sacking Jose?

Highly unlikely but even if we was doing well in the league, does anybody think the owners/Ed Woodward could sack Jose based on his style, the fact he's making certain players want to leave or his public criticism of either the board or the players?

Could they sack him anyway or would we need to be doing badly for that to happen?

Part of me feels that all Woodward and the glazers really care about it money and getting top 4 so even if we fail to rival city but get CL football they’ll be content.

Yes.

No chance. We are a business and top 4 rakes the money in. I am not looking forward to watching us play this season though

Jusr read a Guardian article now claiming we are going to get a DoF. Wonder how Jose will like this?

He could feel undermined or he could feel that a DoF will be a help as well as a potential fall guy if things go wrong.

Interesting times ahead I'm sure. I do doubt whether he can bring us success again but I hope against hope I'm wrong on that and that he'll be the manager to get us winning leagues again and winning in style.

I agree... All they really care about is income... But there's a threat that sponsorship money and record deals will eventually start going to more attractive options if we're not really challenging or entertaining

I think it’s a subtle way of telling him he’s on the out.

Come to think of it, it’s even giving him an excuse to leave; ‘I’m not the sort of manager that works with a dof, I need to choose my own players..so on that basis, I’ve decided to resign..yada yada’

Even ignoring the disaster that is the post SAF era as a whole, the clear disparity between manager and Ed, means there surely has to be a DOF now. I have big reservations about such an arrangement, but if Ed is making the decisions when it comes to player signings, I'd far rather we had a "football man" doing so, and preferably one with some sense of direction
