Stick or Twist

I know Tommo mentioned it in the match thread but it's probably worth an article.
Would you keep the same side so they can learn to play together or would you ring the changes. Lampard has said he wants to give guys some game time so I imagine some changes would be on the cards.

So do you tweak it or really shake it up.

Who plays v Oldham?

Out injured

Davies
Nugent
Huddz

For me it's:

Carson

Wisdom Keogh Tomori Malone

Bryson Evans Lawrence

Holmes Marriott Jozefzoon.

And I know we haven't seen everyone, but if all were fit who do think is our strongest possible 11.

For Me

Carson

Wisdom Tomori Davies Malone

Bryson Huddz Mount

Wilson Martin Lawrence.

I don't think Waghorn is half the hold up player Martin is. He's more mobile but in that hold up position he fell over more that Martin did and didn't win anywhere near the number of free kicks Martin did and I can't recall him playing anyone in.

FFS, when I saw the title, I thought you were asking the question about Frankie !
I'd use tomorrow to give some game time to those who havent featured yet. Too close to Millwall to risk too many of his current starting 11 in a relatively unimportant game.
Therefore, debuts to Evans, Holmes and Marriott and a closer look at Jozefzoon.
As regards a regular DM, your guess is as good as mine.

Twist...... regarding Max Lowe he’s not ready for championship football yet, just ask the club he was on loan to last season

As VC says we gave the ball away too much and it cost us. All the front five were culpable to some extent. The young players up front need to look after the ball a bit better as their counterparts in Leeds shirts did. They seem too eager to impress and to show what they can do when simplicity is often a better option. Probably this will come with time, coaching and familiarity with colleagues. When you watch a genius like Messi as I did last night it is surprising how often he does little with the ball other than pass it a few yards back where it came from. He just knows when it's the right time to turn on the magic and when it isn't.

I'll be heading up to Oldham assuming I can pay on the door. It's a very exciting time to be a Derby fan because almost anything could happen this season and I'm especially interested to see how the likes of Mount, Wilson, Tomori etc develop and how Lampard goes about trying to get the best out of all of the players at his disposal.

Wassa, I watched Shrewsbury a lot last season and the reason Lowe didn't play was because the best left back in that division was ahead of him and never got injured. Also Shrewsbury's manager liked having solid units as full backs and not ones who wanted to get forward. Lowe was a back-up option if they needed to chase the game and because Shrewsbury were so successful he was rarely required. It would have been better for Derby and him to have had more football but it wasn't a reflection on him.

Bush. Right as usual.
It has not only been the last 2 games where Keogh has been exposed. If you ask me, he's been exposed time and time again over the past 4 season. Time for him to move on.

AJ wrong as usual but it might be time for him to move on. His two performances this year have been short of what is required. No cover from a DM and a new partner haven't helped.

Thanks Spart. At least you agree it is time for him to move on.
Keogh is being hung out to dry by Lampard. Surely you can see that. As is Ledley.
Lampard has a vision of how he wants his players to play. Keogh has t the ability. So it will get to a point if it hasn't already, where Keogh will not be selected and everyone will see why.

I reckon there is something in that, AJ. Maybe not intentionally hanging them out to dry but testing them to see if they can play how he wants them to. So far they have been found wanting. Pearce would be found even more wanting though so Lampard has an issue there to solve.

Or Vidal or he plays Huddz therefore nullifying the need for Keogh or any of the centre halfs to find a striker.

Keogh has always made daft runs with no end product but he is being asked to make accurate passes to feet. Not his game and he is only being asked to do that because Huddz and Thorne are not fit.

The return of either will negate the need for a centre half to do that.

And therefore the focus on Keogh will return to his defending, which isn't too bad.

Yes. Huddz, a fit Thorne and perhaps Evans would drop to receive the ball whereas Ledley and Bryson are not comfortable doing that when pressed. Even then, if as Lampard says the intention is to be brave enough to play from the back even when teams push up we need calmness on the ball. Davies is very limited in possession so if he is a certain starter then his partner needs to be a decent ball player.
