AEK Athens 2 - 1 Celtic

Boom it's over for another year. Not as bad as some our CL qualifying exits in recent years but a shocker all the same to a team who were effectively blowing oot their backsides with 25 minutes to go n both ties.

Conceding goals 6 minutes into the first half and 4 into the second is a complete and utter disgrace, we played well to a certain extent but apart from Jozos header that keeper has hardly made a decent save over 180 minutes of football.

Ratings

Gordon (5) - Should've upgraded on him ages ago, looks nowhere near the level we're aiming for.

Lustig (2) - Horrendous, lets his man get 2 crosses in over 2 games n we pay the penalty, use of the ball is awful.

Simunovic (3) - Looks drunk when he receives the ball under any sort of pressure, gives away needless fouls, just awful.

Hendry (5) - Thought he was playing well up until the 2nd goal, got caught underneath it, he's better at heading the ball away in the opposition box than his own.

Tierney (6) - Nothing spectacular, no idea why we weren't targeting the right back from the get go (the goal came from there unsurprisingly)

Brown (7) - Probably his best performance of the season, won the ball countless times, ran his socks off.

Ntcham (4) - Passing was Jozoesque at times, aimless out the park, when we needed a big performance he was found wanting.

Forrest (5) - Don't think he went by his man once over the 2 legs, did put 1 or 2 nice crosses in and works hard but we needed more from him

Rogic (4) - Back to the Rogic of old, hanging on to the ball too long, pushed off it too easily.

McGregor (7) - Thought he was our best player and main attacking threat, when you see how much he grafts for this team he should be one of the first to volley Boyata in the baws today

Griffiths (4) - Just showed us what we all know that he doesn't really belong at this level, has to hit the target with that chance, set pieces were a massive improvement on Ntcham mind you

Special mention to Moussa Dembele, came on and worked his socks off, created space for our attacking players and his footwork ultimately set up the goal

If we had been fit for the 2 legs I'm pretty sure we wouldn't be in this position

but fair play to him, hamstring injury mustve only been 30-40% fit and he wants to play for us and help us, people need to take note

Ghod 👍

I thought Hendry did well last night , credit where it's due , he didn't fck up and kept it simple

The second goal is lustigs fault ....plain and simple

He cost Celtic so many times now it's unreal

I would have got shot of him when he went off ' injured' cough * against Barca to avoid the pummeling we were about to receive

I have no idea why we don't play Gamboa

Again this is Rodgers at fault

BTW, BR is now in his FIFTH transfer window since arriving, and just read that 9 of last night's starting XI were already here under Deila. Sorry, but even allowing for injuries etc, that's a damning stat re his recruitment right there. The missing Ajer and Boyata were already here as well.

Interesting stat that.

BR has done well with those players though.

Transformed them in to league and cup winners albeit slightly underperforming in Europe.

I think Ronald pretty much said that on the obsessed article but no one agreed
