Opening titles/credit sequence for Superman

This is nothing to do with football! (But I'm pleased we beat Fulham at Wembley yesterday!). This year is 40th anniversary of the first Superman movie in 1978, the theme is composed by John Williams who's a musical genius! Here's some comments on youtube:

"This is among the greatest music of all time. John Williams is on the par of Beethoven and Mozart. If his music were composed in the seventeenth-to-nineteenth century, he would be getting the credit he deserves. At least his fans know how great he is"

"This opening title sequence is brilliant moviemaking. And how the hell did Midnight Express win the Oscar for Best Original Score in 1978?! This is perhaps the best musical score of any film, let alone films from 1978."

"It is really remarkable how the music can actually seem to say the name "Superman" and have it not be cheesy, but rather seem an integral part of the theme. Williams is a master."

What other theme tunes which are outstanding has he composed, apart from Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Jurassic Park?

Have a look at Williams' Wiki page.

To say his output has been prolific would be a massive understatement.

He's managed to write the score for 3 or entire films in a single calendar year on more than one occasion.

What I find amazing about him is his uncanny ability to create distinctive themes, seemingly at the drop of a hat and all of them are instantly recognisable.

Definitely a genius.

Went to the bridgewater hall to see a John Williams concert and when they played Schindler’s list it was haunting, the violin solo was amazing.

You also can’t beat the empires March from the empire strikes back.

Hanz zimmer played Manchester it was brilliant.

The pirates of the Caribbean was amazing.

Totally agree. Godfather and Lawrence of Arabia are the greatest scores in movies of all time.

The intro to that film, not one word spoken for about 11 minutes.
