Right, now that the dust has settled

on yet another Spurs win, time to assess the start to the season, and the way forward. A Nice little rest for the players until Monday week, when they take on Man United at Old Trafford. If Spurs are going to be serious about going for the title, as I expect, then they need to be going to places like this, and coming away with all three points, whatever it takes. A win there would set the standard for the season.

Spurs at the moment are only playing at half throttle, and have a lot more to give, and the nonsense that Spurs have a weak squad, was dispelled completely yesterday, they had a bench that included Dembele, Rose, Winks, Lamela, Aurier, etc and that does not include Son and the injured Wanyama, and more than capable youngsters like KWP and Foyth. The bench players changed the game yesterday when the came on, so Spurs definitely have game changers sitting on the bench. Good to see Winks back as well.

Upside so far as I can see so far this season, in the short time it has been going is that Moura looks very decent, Toby is back, Dele Alli and Harry look to be over the world cup, and look to be coming back into form again.

Downside is Eriksen seems still a bit of the pace, but I am sure that will only be temporary, and the fullbacks are a conundrum to me. Both I thought were very poor yesterday, Trippiers free-kick aside. And I know it will always divide us, but as you know, I would prefer a more powerful Aurier bombing down the right, who can deliver a really decent cross to Trippier, even if he does make the odd mistake (I can live with that, like with Walker). Davies is just not as good as Rose at getting up and down the left, but I think Rose may be out of favour now, so not sure where we go with that one. Anyway I doubt we will ever agree on who are the better fullbacks, so I will move on.

Also when Spurs play mid to bottom of the league teams, then do Spurs really need to play with three Central defenders and a holding midfielder. I would much prefer to play with extra attacking options, as Spurs finished with yesterday, they looked so much more potent in the final third, last 30 minutes yesterday.

Anyway, apart from that I am very, very happy with how things are progressing, and come away with three points from Old Trafford, and you could see Spurs going on and making their best start since the Double Season, with some very winnable fixtures home and away, up until end of October.

Thought Trippier was at fault for the goal, he was way out of position when the cross came in. Fulham are better than there results suggest though, I was impressed with them and think they will comfortably stay up.

We need to be signing the boy Sessegnon next summer as well, he is an execellent player.

Poch said in his interview afterwards that he was unhappy with the defending, and to be fair we have been a bit lucky as our bar/post has been rattled 3 times in the last 2 games. We look nowhere near full speed at the moment, but individual moments of quality have got us over the line. Lucas is starting to look a good signing.

Spurs themselves hit the bar yesterday, had what I think was a good goal disallowed, and had plenty of other chances to kill both games off. So not entirely all one way luck mate.

Three points at OT is asking a lot. If we get a point it would still be a great result. It's the one away ground of the top 6 we still haven't got anything from under Poch, and the one we most don't turn up in. Need to play well there for a start.

The goal came from Sessignon being allowed to pull back the cross and play it across the goal.

I am note sure what Lloris was doing on the ground, pre-thinking Sessignon was going to shoot and selling himself down the river.

Tripper should have stopped the first cross but there should never be a chance for opposition players to turn that cross into a dangerous cross across the goal line?

Davies is a liability in defending and utterly useless as a crosser when he gets to the line.

Here's the weakest point of the side.

We should play to get maximum points. We have a very good side and at least as good as theirs, if not better when you compare man for man.

United will probably park the BIGGEST bus and play on counter attacks, giving us 65% possession.

We need to account for that.

Unless Jose has the biggest breakdown before then, and suddenly decides to play an attacking game for once.

That would suit us.

The issue is the mental attitude some of us have.

Oh, it United. It would be good to get a draw

Stop beating ourselves and let go there and turn up for the game!

Obviously, I would want 3 points over a draw and hope that's what we go for, but if we only end up with 1 it's decent, because they are a top side that finished above us last season and should be right up there again.

The thing is though, there surely has to come time when Spurs simply have to go to places like Old Trafford and win. Let it become the norm, like Chelsea and most of the other big hitters used to do when the came to WHL, they came there to win, not to just draw. Spurs simply have to be winning at places like this if they want to win trophies.

Absolutely. Spurs need to be going to places like Old Trafford and Anfield, and coming away with all three points.

Well we don't actually need to do that. Not even City did this last season. But it would be good if we could.

Well we do have to do it. Simple. Lay down a marker, to say if a team wants to win the title, they will have to finish above Spurs.

You may as well start saying that we need to win every single game. Is 114 points the target now?
