Mark Hughes tactics.....

Surprised Southampton employed him past last season. Thought they were bit more progressive than Mark Hughes. The club seems to have lost a lot of its direction in last 2 seasons. Think he’ll be gone this season, Saints fans already don’t like him

I tell you what Arouna, Pickford looked a little ropey, also our defending of set pieces left a lot to be desired. Everytime Southampton had a corner I shiiit a brick. I bet Digne is questioning signing for us, how much game time will he get with Baines in such good form?

Pickford made an error but the save to deny Ings the rebound was top class. You can see the cross /shot move in the air.

If pickfords clearance was a red then 2-3 Southampton players should have walked.

Baines, well Digne will get game time for sure and will need to step up. Holgate looked good, nice options to have.

I have watched Richarlison a while now, and he starts the first half of the season very well - like house on fire but then he faded badly last half of the season.

He needs to be managed so he can still produce when it matters.

I did predict Everton to do very well, and it looks that way to me.

I agree with the constant fouling by the Southampton players.

I know it's early doors but it's amazing what a new manager can bring to a team, besides Richarlison it's the same group of players. I love the fact Silva hasn't cast aside our old players to make room for his signings like a lot of managers do.

The atmosphere at the ground has changed, we're a lot more optimistic, and the football is far more easy on the eye, and we've still got £80m+ worth of talent waiting in the wings.

Like I said it's early doors but it's looking promising.

I didn't really take much notice of Watford last season so I didn't know about his drop in form. We'll have to see what happens but both Silva and Richarlison claim his drop in form was down to being burnt out due to 18 months of none stop footy. The fact his best form was when he was being coached by Silva might also be a factor in his goal drought.

I was impressed with Sig, he's starting to show us what he can do when played in his favourite role.
