A fair comparison?

So yesterday I unfortunately missed a 9th Kun Aguero Premier League hat trick due to being at work (will he beat Shearers 11 before parting ways with us?! 🙏)

Anyway that meant I largely followed the game on the BBC match thread - hate doing that! It’s a weird sensation where you feel totally powerless, not that you have any more or less power when you’re sat in the stand!

Long story short somebody tweeted about David Silva being as good as, or better than (can’t remember exactly) Paul Scholes. That prompted an absolute backlash from United fans, many of whom didn’t think Silva was fit to lace Scholes boots - “Scholes better in all aspects" was one comment (tackling is certainly debatable imo!)

Anyway, having partaken in more than my fair share of trivial wumming yesterday - today I pose a genuine question, is David Silva and Paul Scholes a fair or unfair comparison? And have there been any other Premier League creative midfielders who are up in the top bracket too?

Scholes all day long.

very insightful. Utd fan I take it?

You take it wrong.

Who then? And offer some insight into your opinion. If you think scholes all day long that must mean by quite a margin.

Both were awesome, but slightly different.

Scholes had an amazing range of passing and was brilliant technically, just not very mobile and awful at challenging.

Silva was much better at international level, although I accept nowadays WC and EC etc are inferior competitions.

Both are or were world class. Its like the Gerrard/Scholes/Lampard debate, you can make a strong argument for either.

Dunc maybe Becks when he was given freedom of movement was the closest United came. They seem to go for the more box to box players like Scholes, Keane, Robson and now when he has direction Pogba.

The "special one" might need to coax Scholes out from retirement. Even after being out of the game for a while he probably has more energy than this Man U. bunch yesterday!

All I know is that I feel blessed as a City Fan to have been able to watch the genius, that is David Silvia, play for the club I support with such distinction.

I expect a great deal many United Fans feel the same about Scholes.

Both fantastic players in their own right, who are equally revered by their own supporters.
