Harry Kane thoughts?

Last week I wrote that I was worried he is still struggling with fitness/burnouts/injuries. Yet on Saturday it seemed like he was back to his old self?

Attempted 4 shots (and really should have had a hattrick)
Had 40 touches
22 completed passes with 2 key passes & 3 accurate long balls (I remember them being great switches of play to Trippier)
A Spurs team high 3 completed dribbles.

Looked a lot sharper and as a team we pressed a lot better this week (partially helped by fantastic Moura & Dele performances).

I'd suggest that there is nothing to worry about currently, the injury looks past him. We just need to hope he can get a few breaks in the season so that he can manage his game-load properly.

Thoughts?

I wouldn't be so sure that he'll miss the internationals. I get the feeling that this group of players are more committed and will want to play.

Southgate seems like the kind of progressive manager Lowe is though - and will give his team a break considering they went far in the WC.

Kane wants to always play, at any cost really. He would run through walls for his team.

At the same time that means he will play at times when he is rusty or needs a rest, which is good and bad.

If he stays fit, and as your main focal point, he will get 20+ PL goals I think. I just worry that like Firminio for Pool, they have to play a hell of a lot of games over a season. Theres a worry that long term it will come back to haunt them later in their careers.

Problem is, Kane and Firminio are perfect for their teams styles and you cant find another Harry or Firmino, or every team would want one.

Whats more worrying is that Aguero is fit for the first time in a few years, and looks much sharper and better for it. He is the most clinical finisher in the league in the box. If he plays 30+ games i think he walks the golden boot unfort

Kane has a knack of still scoring a goal, or even two goals when he is having an off day. Alli and Son have that knack as well. It is a sign of an exceptional player and always helps you win more games over the course of a season.

not sure son has that knack... hes a streaky player... when hes on form he will score for fun, often screamers...

when hes off form he stinks the place out.

Alli and Kane seem almost as likely to score when playing well as when playing badly... constant goal threat

Yeah I'd agree with that.

We need more goal contribution from the back four this season though, which has already started well.

Our back 4/5 are often the least prolific by miles in the PL. If we actually work on set pieces and match the league average we should be guaranteed another 5-10 goals

England's set pieces with Trippier taking them were extremely effective at the World Cup so hopefully we will see the back 4/5 scoring more goals from freekicks and corners this season.

I think Trippier has rightly usurped Eriksen as our main freekick and corner taker.

Never thought I'd end up saying this!

Weirdly I would have had Trippier for the short ones and Eriksen from distance. Yet Trippiers from the weekend was really far out.

Trippier has cemented himself as first choice RB I think now. Especially if he’s going to be a threat on the dead ball
