Is Kante a hindrance..

to Sarri's system?

One of the critical components of Sarriball is how his midfield is set up. At Napoli it relied on three types of midfield player:
Deep Lying Playmaker
Dribbling midfielder
Attacking midfielder

At Napoli Jorginho obviously was the DLP; Hamsik was the AM & Allan was the dribbler.

In this current Chelsea team the players who match up my closely stylistically with the Napoli line-up are Jorginho DLP; Barkley AM & Kovacic Dribbler.

Kante is solid at dribbling with the ball but he isn't a specialist dribbler type player like Allan or Kovacic who fill that role way better.

With Kante you have a world class midfielder who's strengths lie as a destroyer - which is a type of player Sarri hasn't really used much before in his team set ups.

What do we think will happen, Sarri will adapt his style/preference to accommodate the World Cup winner? Or do you see Kante eventually getting rotated more and more for players who are more tailor-made for Sarriball?

Someone in a Sarri mid 3 has to offer a goal threat, and as it stands the only player in the squad who can play that role is Barkley. I'm not his biggest fan either but it is what it is.

Jorginho/Kante/Kovacic being a mid 3 is fine provided that goal threat comes from somewhere else. Sarri could try playing Alonso as an inverted LB high up the pitch, so he could bring that goal threat. Possible.

I'm talking over the course of a whole season. 4-3-3 101, one of the CM's has to have goals in him. Between them Kante & Kovacic haven't racked up 10 goals in five years, Barkley got 10+ over two before last season.

Kante & Kovacic are better players (don't think that's even a debate), but Barkley fills a need for Sarri.

Still utter top end player...in an unfamiliar area at times...I'd rather we had him doing what he was last term

I don't think I have seen Chelsea at all this season, but heard a few reports about chances falling to him and his finishing/composure just not being part of his game.

was fantastic against liverpool, which is what I suspected.

Will be the games against lesser teams where he wont make much of an impact due to not having to do much box to box or cleaning up, like you say finishing is not really his forte

And yet Kante is the only midfielder that has scored a goal, what does that say about the others failing to finish chances? (Others have also missed guilt-edged chances).

Reports much ado about nothing at the moment.

My views remain the same on Kante.
Revisit at the end of the season.

Very true, kovacic has actually suprisingly been quite wasteful infront of goal. Jorgino, has he even had a shot lol

Maybe, but there is also the possibility that you are being stubborn.

I was just wondering if people had formed more of an opinion on the situation after 10 games.

1 goal isn't particularly noteworthy though, and to be a pedant Jorginho has scored as well albeit a pen.

I think we've got bigger worries edin before kante becomes a priority, and by that time we might of sussed it all out .

First issues is dealing with our strikers/or lack there of.
