Jonny be good

There is no doubt Barry Douglas was an important part of our Promotion last season, his assist's were key to a lot of our goals, so it was sad to see him go to Leeds.

But as sad as it was, would anybody swap him now for Jonny? He is far more impressive defensively, has pace and looks useful going forward.

Man City was a real step up in class, and if we are honest they would have ripped Douglas apart.

Basically all I'm saying, In Nuno we trust

Wulfrunnut, You are not really suggesting you would prefer Barry Douglas?

No, I'm Not saying I prefer Douglas, just that I think they may regret selling him. He has attributes (eg, dead ball striker) that I don't believe either Jonny or Vinagre have yet demonstrated. He also popped up with the odd goal last season. You may well be right, but as yet I'm not convinced that selling Douglas was necessarily the best thing to do in the summer window.
Time will tell.

He is a very good player. He didn’t provide enough width against 10 man Everton in the opening game, but thought he was fantastic yesterday.

Agree with the OP,

I'm not sure either Otto or Vinagre will be taking dead ball kicks, that job has been given to Moutinho, who I thought outshone Neves in midfield yesterday. However I'm sure Neves will learn a lot playing along side him.

As for Douglas. It was sad to see him go, but I feel Otto will get better as the season goes on and yesterday, he had a very good game before going off with what looked like cramp.

Douglas is doing well at Leeds, but is playing as a LB in a back 4 and has had 1 assist so far. Out of the two, I think I prefer Otto.

Wulfrunnut, we all know about Douglas dead ball ability.
But as has been pointed out, Moutinho has taken on that role.

But in reality his lack of pace and defending would have been horribly exploited by Man city.

there can be no room for sentiment.

With Moutinho taking the corners and wide free kicks, and Neves taking the more central ones, I really can’t see us missing Douglas’s dead ball deliveries. To me Castro has been one of our best players in the last couple of games, both defensively and going forward. I think he has much more to his game than Douglas

Worst thing about this guy is his name, feckin eight posts and three different names have been given so far and I am siding with dj and will call him Castro.

I guess the name on the back of his shirt will do for me.
