"Don't three-quarters build your house"

...said Gary Neville.

I don't really think this is a reasonable argument. Who's to say when the house is built? When Jose says so?

The idea that you just keep backing a manager over and over because that's how he operates is madness.

Correct me if i'm wrong but the man has spent approx £350m already and has done so without having to sell off key players.

I think only City have that luxury - perhaps Chelsea.

I think most people acknowledge that stopping City is going to take some heavy investment as well as good coaching but can United fans honestly say the team is improving given the £350m expenditure?

Watching them last night was like watching - dare I say it, an Everton style performance. No offence to them of course but I suppose what i'm trying to say is that there was plenty of effort but a real lack of quality.

United fans might not expect the full house with a new extension but they are looking at home improvements.

What you're getting is a dodgy boiler and creaky floorboards and what's worse is that the traders your hiring are cowboys.

What United need right now is a little less Jose Mourinho and a little more Dom Littlewood.

This is a really good post. Neville is a Mourinho apologist through and through. To be fair to him he’s consistent when it comes to backing managers he was the same with Wenger - he won’t criticise any manager because of his own dreadful spell at Valencia.

However, the reason Liverpool have thrown money at Klopp this year is because they can see the progress. They feel they will get a return. The reason city have thrown money at pep is because they know he will mound them into a dominant Barcelona style side

Why should united throw £200m more at Mourinho? He’s not shown that he’s going to do anything remotely close to pep if he does get that money. He will still set up like West Brom and moan his way to second place

Mourinho built the spine of this team himself, and it is not working.

He had his chance and he failed.

Neville is wrong. Jose was never a Utd Manager.

Needs to go

I agree with Neville on some level but Mourinho has signed a whole new team bar full backs...

He inherited a team that finished 5th and signed...

Paul Pogba
Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Henrikh Mkhitaryan
Eric Bailly
Nemanja Matic
Romelu Lukaku
Victor Lindelof
Alexis Sanchez
Dalot
Fred

That's 10 players on top of what Utd already had and what has he to show for it? The League Cup and Europa League. Two 2nd rate trophies at best.

He's failed, He should be doing better, Regardless of what happened last night.

By failing do you mean winning more trophies than Liverpool have.

I've not really agreed with much Neville has had to say about the managerial situation.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He's in the awkward position of criticising the manager and the club but not going so far as to stick the knife in.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
this started after his sacking in spain

he became part of the managerial union and once you become part of the managerial union you are only allowed to say a manager must be allowed to see out his contract

You deny they have still been more successful than Liverpool in that time?

It’s you that’s got the problem dipper.
