We actually played well the first 45mins, then fell apart out of nowhere the second half. I don't know what to make of it.
Is this down to the players or Jose? Has Jose lost the dressing room? (I feel like he has)
If you look over my previous articles, I always try and put a positive spin on things; I'm an optimist. But the first 3 games of this season has got me thinking whether there is actually anything positive happening at the club currently.
I do agree with one thing of what came out last night and that is that the media are obsessed with Jose and United. As Jose alluded to yesterday night, they need to show him more respect. As bad as a job he is doing right now, every single day there is something on the back pages about Jose is a negative light.
Next game against Burnley away will be very interesting...

"Lukaku, Matic, Bailly and Pogba have been successful signings."
Is that the sort of success where you eat a meal and it tastes awful, but it doesn't give you food poisoning?

Can anyone find the lukaku stat that sky put up lastnight?
Think it totalled about 5 goals in 40 games against the top 6

Said it last night but United didn't play well. They tried hard and gave it there all but that doesn't equate to playing well.
Neither team played well imo but Spurs were clinical.
As for Mourinho, he's been given 2 seasons and the team now are probably worse than when he took over.
He's spent close to 400m and not got brought 1 player in who could be considered a successful signing (Ibrahimovic first season aside)
The club would be stupid to continue to throw money at him when it's not worked. Though it seems stupid to keep him in post and no back him. I suspect it's a wait and see approach, if he can get an upturn in form + position by January, he'll get backing but if he doesn't he'll get a sacking
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok shut up and stop watching football
You don't know what you're on about.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
So i'll take that as you having the opposite view.
Name some signings that have been an unqualified success.
What do you think the plan is with the manager then?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lukaku, Matic, Bailly and Pogba have been successful signings.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lukaku has been effective at times but not good enough for United.
Matic has been good in games and not good in other spells.
Bailley looked at one stage to eventually be a great CB, he looks more and more like Mangala now.
Pogba regardless of the fee isn't and at any time has not been a success.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, and all Managers make mistakes, granted. But one of the key things Managers are paid to do is identify players to attempt to buy, in positions that are needed, at a price worth paying. Surely no one can say that he has done this part of his job efficiently? The amount of money that has been spent since Mourinho arrived, if taken back now (even going on today's inflated rates) could have landed United with a young, up and coming, potentially world class squad who would've produced so much better football that what is on offer now.
Mourinho is also in a strong position that not many Managers ever find themselves in, in that he is the Manager of Manchester United, a world renowned team who can gazump pretty much any team in the country in terms of offering wages, transfer fees and the general appeal of the club. Despite this, he has still failed. Compare it to a Manager like Poch on limited resources, the pull of the club (your own fans constantly remind us that you are still a bigger pull than the likes of Spurs), and the wages we offer, and he has managed to get so much more value.
Obviously I don't want Poch to leave, but even I would like to see one day what Poch can do on almost unlimited resources.

Shaw was enegergetic and got on gbe ball more than anyone but my god his final ball is awful.
================
His final ball yesterday was actually better than I've ever seen it. He set up a chance for Lukaku in the first half from a pull back, put in a couple of decent crosses, one or two drilled crosses and played a nice pass through to Fred to lay off Pogba for a shot on target.
His final ball is usually a weakness in his game but last night that criticism can't be levelled at him. Hopefully he can continue to develop that aspect of his game.
You nonce.

Lukaku scored 27 goals in his first season at the club. He's just turned 25 years old so will likely only improve, already has a proven track record in the PL and will continue to bang in somewhere around 25 or 30 goals per season for years to come. His record might not be very good against the top clubs, but that isn't where we've struggled in recent years; it has been in putting away the sides lower down the table, which he helped us do very successfully last season.
Matic was our best outfield player last season. He started superbly, and although he had an average patch through the middle of the season, finished strongly. He missed only two PL games, and was a large part of the reason why a defence that looks frighteningly exposed and shaky so far this season looked comfortable and collected last term, finishing in the top ten PL players in interceptions and top 20 in tackles.
By the end of last season literally nobody was talking about Bailly as a flop, and many were regarding him as one of the strongest young centrebacks in the PL. If people have decided to change their minds about him after two games, that says more about them than about the player.
Despite missing a third of the season, Pogba scored six goals and racked up ten assists in the league last season, putting him in the top five midfielders for combined goals and assists per minute played. He was also instrumental in the EL winning campaign, collecting the EL Player of the Season award. Stats and fluctuating form aside, anyone who can't see how gifted and influential a player Pogba is should give up on football.

"...young, up and coming, potentially world class squad..."
De Gea, Fosu-Mensah, Bailly, Shaw, Pogba, Fred, Lingard, Pereira, Martial, Rashford, Lukaku...
There's an awful lot of talent there yet to reach what you'd expect to be their peak years.

Absolutely. If I were a Utd fan I would have no confidence whatsoever that they will excel in those peak years under their current Manager.

Agreed.
He'll leave a good squad behind though. One that still requires development, but could be up there with any other in the league barring City's.
