.... slow fullbacks.
I absolutely hate it and think it is criminal that Poch thinks it is a good formation.
I had one rant after we played this formation last season:
http://www.ja606.co.uk/articles/viewArticle/380163
He did it again this year.
Playing five defenders means that there is a requirement from the fullbacks to create for the rest of the team.
Our fullbacks aren't blessed with blistering pace, aren't particularly athletic and aren't particularly capable at beating a man. Their strengths lie in first-time delivery.
To aim at, due to the formation making Dele Alli more a midfielder than a forward, we have Kane (good in the air) and Moura (impressive jump but ultimately not an arial presence). Realistically then we have one target to aim at in the box coming up against two CB's and a GK.
The statistics speak volumes - Trippier attempted 14 crosses and was successful with 4 (successful ones were almost all set pieces), Ben Davies attempted 6 and was successful with 0.
If we insist on this formation we have to have pace on the flanks and/or Dele playing as a secondary striker.
Poch really needs to wise up, this was absolutely shambolic management from him again.
COYS
5 defenders, midfield diamond....

It is also worth noting that Sanchez really needs to wisen up.
He came from a Dutch league where he was an athletic freak compared to most of the league.
In the PL, however, we have a lot of very strong forwards. He keeps using his strength to try and outmuscle forwards and doesn't realise that they are stronger in this league.
Vs Deeney, King and Rondon he has been made to look a fool by being outmuscled.

Watford do this every season. Start well, look decent, get safe, go on a horrid losing run but still safe, sack the manager, sign another foreign coach with a beard, rinse and repeat.

THIS

They don't start well every season.

Over the past few seasons they have had very similar starts to ourselves, yet fall off as the season progresses. They have now established themselves as a solid mid table club.
Last season they were a point ahead of us after 4 games, 2016-2017 they were 4 points adrift of us after 4, and in 2015-2017 we were 16th & Watford 17th on the same points after 4 games.
The gap between us at the end of all of those seasons was significant, so a bit early to panic or start calling for Poch to change

Wtf you on about GG?
We never start well bar this season firstly.
Secondly, Poch got it wrong last nights game and I think the 5 defenders with slow fullbacks and a midfield diamond is a terrible formation. He can get it wrong on occasion and be better than other people throughout the season.

Well said Genius. One defeat, and we have near on panic on the board.

Do you not agree with the article Sandy?
Am I not allowed to criticise Poch's selection? I mean you have.

Remember in one of Sanchez's first game for us last season we were playing west ham And he was up against Carroll
The day before the game Sanchez was asked about it and he said "Don't worry about me, I'm from Colombia"
Really got bullied by Carroll that day bless him

Lloris
Aurier Toby Verts Rose
Dier Dembele
Dele Eriksen Son
Kane
Bench: Vorm, Trippier/Davies, Sanchez, Wanyama, Winks, Lamela, Moura
Moura for Dembele or Wanyama for Son can be options depending on the game.

Any formation without Alli simply wont happen. I just cannot see Poch dropping him. He’s good but I find him a really frustrating player.
