It is beyond stupid to have International football so soon after a world cup and 4 games into a new season. The clubs should work together and refuse to release their players until after the new year.

Haha, oh yeah.

Seriously though I don't know why the clubs put up with it?

As I understand it this is a way to give friendlies some kind of meaning, with the possible carrot of European Championship qualification. I think it is an improvement on the old system of friendlies being meaningless other than for ranking points.

So one of the once before dreadful nations will win a place to the big dance now?

That is a good thing without doubt.

yeah but there was too much before.. now its a bit more serious so players less likely to pull out. all the spurs players should pull out or be pulled out of this nonsense.
