Scotland qualify for World Cup

Been a long time since we heard that said

...well done our women’s team. A fabulous achievement

A 2-1 win away to Albania tonight and Switzerland drawing away to Poland means the ladies top their group and qualify automatically

Showing the men how it’s done. Let’s see if the men can copy that and get to the Euros 👍

It would be brilliant to have Scotland qualifying for a world cup again. I saw us do it 6 times. Shocking really how poor we are on the international level.

There is no depth in quality in our league. We are just over the border from England but cannot develop any decent amount of players . The people that run our game are hopeless too. Allowing Kilmarnock a pitch like they have in the top league speaks for itself.

I think our failure predates Killie's pitch.

Zero interest in women’s football and anyone on here trying to say they are is essentially a sexshist pig 👍

Well as Godfather to a near future Scottish internationalist, I am delighted that they have made the World Cup. Womens footie is entertaining even if it does lack all the cheating and whinging of the mens game

I don't understand the negativity towards women's football if I'm honest, for a variety of reasons.

Nobody is going to argue that the standard is terrific, but it's their game so why belittle it? Is it any different to the English fans who come on and belittle our game (who also don't watch the product)?

I think this is terrific news, and what it hopefully will do is allow the sport to continue to develop. Now young Scottish girls have icons and role models to aspire to and hopefully it'll inspire a new generation of girls to take up the game. Given the obesity crisis in this country, encouraging girls to be active is vital and this will undoubtedly help.

As for the team themselves, I loosely follow their progress and they've done terrifically well. They came from 2 down with 12 minutes to go against Poland to win a vital three points, and showed great character in their final two games. Well done women.

I'll watch their games next year and be cheering them on from home.
