Battlefield V Open Beta

Come one, come all back to our roots of WW2.

So we have finally gone full circle and the gorgeousness off Battlefield I has now been shifted 30 years into the future and the weapons, vehicles, and landmark battles of WW2 have been brought into the modern era.

And although it looks like BF1 it feels very different (Orange mentioned this on another post). Some interesting mechanics make it feel more teamy which is nice. The guns feel tight.......and yeh i need to go play more.

But first few games really cool - so if you like these types of game come get on the beta - 5 days left of this round.

Ok Simon prepare yourself !! Im a BF veteran!

Beasted this over the last two days now got about 7 hours in last night also.

Its a little buggy but that can be expected in a Beta and doubly expected in a BF Beta !!

Good: The game feels awesome movement is really smooth and improved again on BF1, jumping and grabbing ledges is a cool addition as is going prone on your back.

Recoil is better, guns have a recoil pattern unlike the randomness of BF1 as they have got rid of the random spread in bullets which benefits more skilled players.

The maps they have given look awesome especially Rotterdam, my mrs seen it last night and said that looks like Rotterdam to which I said thats cos it is!

All players can now revive which is excellent with medics able to revive much faster than non medics.

They have changed the sniping mechanics also back to the more traditional method and got rid of the sweet spots they had in BF1 which means one shot kills are only done with headshots (assuming the enemy has full health)

Takes a bit of getting used to the healing mechanics but I like it. Its still not totally instinctive yet but another day or two should be fine.

Now onto the other area and obv its a beta so I wont include any bugs and even then these things are subject to change.

The bad: The kill cam sorta thing BF does isnt great, preferred being able to see who killed you like others (you can see guys up close but not snipers) which encourages guys to miles away and hide without anyone seeing them.

The spotting system, im indifferent to this. Its good in the fact that there is red Doritos's above all the enemies as they are spotted as you cant spot players anymore (unless you are a sniper with the binoculars) I would have it that people can spot other players but those spotted players only show up for you and/or your squad rather than the whole team. With the way the game looks players can be lost in shadows and other areas of the map far too easily and also those pain in the ass snipers miles off cant be spotted.

The squad rewards system where you can call in V2 rockets/tanks etc is flawed. Far too many games now I have seen like 10-12 different squads all with only 1/2 players cos everyone wants to be squad leader and call them in (failing to realise that they wont get enough squad points to call in a V2.) I do like the V2 though was extremely satisfying last night as I took out almost the whole team as they camped in on a flag (got best part of 15-20 kills of the one rocket!)

The indifferent: Air Vehicles are nowhere near as effective as they have been in previous BF's. But that doesnt bother me as I have never liked them, always been a boots on ground guy.

Im sure I have missed plenty and a lot will come back to me but I better wrap this up otherwise I will need to stick this post in paperback!

in addition I like the concept of the idea of limited ammo and the health regen however i think it would be better if you started with just 1 more extra mag than they currently give you and also a med pack. the first thing that most (me included) do when you spawn in is straight away look for those supply points to get another mag and med. That will get very annoying soon, also a pain in the a$$ is your not playing conquest and coming in via air drop as it can then mean going up against a team camped in the objective defending it (with their own supply points) but your left with the minimum trying to take it over which aint very well balanced.

Great right up orange - I think I'm generally feeling the same. And love how hectic it feels also.

So like the gun play and the new mechanics for the squad members etc - not too keen on the maps. Way too many routes to everywhere too chaotic imo and the start areas especially in Rotter seem horrible. Don't feel there is any skill just go down one of the hundreds of routes and shoot people in the back.

yeah i like the way it plays, very much so.

The game wont be ready for November however too many bugs IMO. Cant use the medic class as it doesnt let me spawn when I select it, same goes with the support class when I try to use the FG42.

Dragging system not been implemented yet I dont know if the tossback for grenades is yet as I havent seen that yet or had any prompts to do so in game.

Ragdolls are still in there, sometimes you can be revived sometimes you cant.

Dont like the hold square to revive someone when that same command is also to pick up their weapon many times I have revived someone and an enemy pops up straight away and I go to fire only to realise I now have a sniper rifle that belonged to the guy I revived.

Quite a lot to fix it seems, still it plays really well. The game really rewards you for getting those headshots in.

Battle Royale mode will only be 64 players should be more IMO. If CoD can get 80-120 players (game will have 80 but they have been testing with 120 with no problems) then Battlefield should be able to also.
