Auba / Lacazette

Can we get both of them into our team in CENTRAL positions?

It’s pretty obvious that these 2 are at their best play CF but why can’t we just get 2 CFs into the team instead of playing Auba out wide where he struggles to get into the game. He showed tonight, albeit against a pub team, that he is devastating and ruthless given the opportunity

Is Emery known for playing the diamond formation? Because due to our lack of wide options, it seems the best way to go forward for the time being.

——Xhaka
Torreira - Ramsey
——- Ozil
Laca —- Auba

When we play with wide men, they don’t really stay wide so I don’t see why we can’t try this? It gives Emery the 3 man midfield he wants to play and allows our 2 strikers to link up and cause havoc with Ozil roaming in behind. The fullbacks continue to provide the width as they are at the moment.

We can’t defend so why don’t we just go for goals every game?

Auba is so much more effective when played centrally. You saw the difference Iwobi made today playing wide.

Agree completely that these two need to be playing centrally somehow

9 goals from 9 different players in the league so far.

I, for one, am very interested to see how far Emery's system takes us. It's still too early to start picking his tactics apart.

Having said that, a clean sheet or two would be nice.

Not against a deep block. He can't play with his back to goal, he can't really dribble well. As bats says, play him alongside someone as we're crap defensively anyway.

Want to see Iwobi start on Sunday. He has really bulked up and looks very strong. Only player in the team that carries the ball

wasn't his first goal from coming in from wide

Auba is our best player and Lacazett is in great form - both should play

Agree that Aubamayang suffers out wide, to me at least there's no sense in not playing to your best players strengths.

For it to work with both up top surely we need some attacking width? Maybe that could come from full back, Kolasinac and Lichsteiner would be best bets if that was the case

Suggested this abt 2 months ago. Emery would basically copy Liverpool's formation with Coutinho.

The problem is that energy required in midfield. Its why Liverpool paid so much for Oxolade despite his contract winding down.

It maybe possible with Torriera, Matteo and Ramsey midfield but I don't see how you fit Xhaka into that and Ozil doesn't have the chasing ability of Coutinho.

Aubameyang reminds me so much of Van Nistelrooy. I would try to play Lacazette in behind him in a Yorke/Sheringham role.

I feel like the 4-1-2-1-2 suits perfectly at the moment, in the sense that is the best option we have to get the best out of our strike duo and Ozil, but we do need to make Xhaka a squad player and replace him with a solid DM next summer if we want to progress.

Also we need our full backs to be ready to contribute significantly going forward, Lucy Steiner is 35 and is a stop gap, and Bellerin and Kolasinac both have promise under all the faults but if they flatter to deceive once again this year then we need to start looking for long term replacements (more so Kola, I think Bellerin has more potential still quite young and I’d favour him to stay far more)

It suits us in the now and we don’t need to plug in all that many holes to optimise it, would be our best bet
