Morning early birds
So it's the 20 year anniversary from the epic treble winning season. Time really has flown by.
Most on this site were proabbly not even born or were still chomping on a breast.
I was 21, living in Manchester at the time, in Chorlton, so went to see a lot of games. When I look back at that season, we had an indifferent 1st half of the season. We lost to Arsenal and Sheffield Wednesday away and Boro at home. We also drew quite a few games (7 or 8). We lost the quarter finals of the league cup to Spurs.
I can clearly remember feeling frustrated and that we were not hitting the form expected of us with the squad we had. We spent a lot of money that summer buying Yorke, Stam and Blomqvist.
Then bang, 1999 comes and 31 games later, 3 major trophies, 0 defeats and the rest is history.
That week in May. Those 3 games in 10 days.
Plus the replay of the FA Cup semi. The tension and excitement will never be replicated. Just proud to have lived and experienced those moments.
Great memories, and truly emphasises how great SAF was.
20 years on. Football is a very different game. Winning one major trophy is an achievement. A treble? Just so far away at the moment for any team.

Chelsea were in between the revolution that Mathew Harding brought with some European success in 97 & a couple of domestic cups....the likes of Gullit Vialli & Zola gracing our shirt, and still some 4 years off the Roman era

Best team that this country has ever seen.
We went the entire CL campaign without losing once. We played Bayern 3 times, Barca twice, Inter twice and Juve twice.
Meanwhile at the council house......played 1 against Lyon and lost 1. Best team ever though apparently. Our 99 team would cause them so many issues. They'd not live with it.

I think the game which really got the ball rolling was the 2-1 FA Cup win against Liverpool at OT. We didn’t have Sky so I was following the game on f***ing Teletext
1-0 down then suddenly it was over and the full-time match report said we’d won, I was ecstatic, couldn’t believe it and that sort of game continued all the way to Barcelona.
