Leicester v Huddersfield Post Match

So what do you reckon guys? Is the future bright or still very confusing? Did we learn anything? Is Nev a mystic genius that can see our future as European heavyweights or were Huddersfield simply so bad that even Holloway could have organised a team to beat them?

Answers on this postcard.....

Don't think were learnt a lot. Some more poor defending for their firat goal and when Depotrior should of scored but these are rotten and made us look very good at times.

Puel won a game where he couldn’t win; we deserved to win and played well in the second half. Did we learn much? We showed that we’re better than Huddersfield when playing at home, which is something. We didn’t get disheartened at going a goal down and stayed professional. So today may be a relatively small positive but it’s still a positive.

Inclined to agree guys. Why do we keep making such bad starts though? It’s become a hallmark of Puels tenure. I remember it happening a lot last season.....

Wasn’t impressed at all today. Even during our decent spell in the second half, a very very very poor Huddersfield team still created chances against us.

Basically, I still believe we have the quality in players to have us comfortably mid table. But the sum is still less than the parts for me.

Sorry, I personally still don’t feel positive after that.

Anyhooo- back to the topic in hand.....do we see progress? It’s difficult really, I see what he’s trying to do, honestly my feeling is that he’ll never have the players to be able to dominate teams the way he wants while keeping clean sheets and scoring goals.

Who knows, I would of course be delighted if it worked out - just get that sinking feeling it won’t

Hmmm .... I’m still on the edge of my seat with this side waiting for something to go wrong. A typically slow start with players looking uncomfortable in possession and a feeling of inevitability about a defensive lapse. There were moments when a better side than Huddersfield would have capitlised and we can be thankful that they didn’t.

There were positives from today. We won and, on the 2nd half showing, we deserved to win. A good reaction to going a goal down. One or two of the players that divide opinion contributed: I thought Amartey did ok (although he’s still one of those players who looks clumsy and has a costly mistake in him) and I also thought Mendy had a good all round game. Chilwell also had a very good game. If he could learn to cross a ball well then he really would be a player of great potential.

I was pleased that Puel took a strong decision to change things at half time. He’s been much criticised previously for his bizarre substitutions that come too late to influence games. I thought Gray was much more influential than Ghezzal so credit to Puel for recognising that it wasn’t working and making a change - although some would say his starting line up was not right in the first place.

So still areas that remain unconvincing but, let’s face it, Puel would have been crucified if he’d lost that game. We didn’t and we won the game and that’s a big positive compared to where we’d have been if we hadn’t. Unfortunately, however, it will take much more before people will start to believe that Puel will succeed in the medium to long term because, as DM stated, this was one game that Puel couldn’t “win”.
