The thing is and I have been guilty of it in the past by calling Ramsey the Welsh Gerrard, he has never lived up to the hype. Apart from one season playing behind Giroud, Ramsey has never been consistent. So you can't expect £50m type offers for someone who doesn't deliver every game. Those type of sums are usually attached to players who are considered truly world class. Now if you add in other factors like a contract winding down and unbelievable wage demands, very few clubs would take that risk. Ramsey is not in Alexis class who had performed in Spain, Italy and was the top scorer in the prem league and had huge brand recognition in South America. My estimates of Ramsey is probably accurate which is why I believe we didn't sell him last summer.

No foreign club would've bid £50m for Ramsey if the offer is true then it was definitely a PL club.
I've said before, the absolute max I'd offer him is £200k a week, and I accept we'd be getting rinsed if so. But he broke his leg with us, we looked after him, and he's helped us win trophies, so I'd be willing to overlook it. Special case and all that.
However, it sounds like he wants more than that (or he just wants to leave) so he can Fack off. It's a shame.
Can see him going to juventus, they love a free transfer.

In Italy comparing Italian type wages. I am not sure anyone would pay that much outside England. Barca and Madrid would laugh at that for Ramsey's profile.
And I believe only Man Utd would pay that sort of money in England for him.
I think Ramsey's agent has miscalculated badly.

Jenius, I think I need to be clearer in what I'm saying.
You know he hasn't lived up to the hype. I know he hasn't lived up to the hype. Every Arsenal fan knows it too.
But we watch Arsenal every week. People who don't won't be as observant as we are.
Some people will genuinely look at his resume, see that he's been part of three FA Cup winning teams, won our Player of the Year twice, captains his national team and has scored a respectable amount of goals from central midfield since 2013.
Added to the fact that he is very good at stat padding, as exemplified by his shocking performance against Everton where he still somehow ended up getting 2 assists to his name, and people will see him as an efficient, productive midfielder who brings energy to the game.
Scouts are sometimes guilty of analysing stats more than analysing performances.
I'm not saying there ever was a £50m bid from an unnamed club. It could be complete codswallop.
But I'm saying IF there ever was a bid in that region, it would have been from a Premier League club.
Mourinho has said in the past that he's a fan of Ramsey. United wanted him in 2009 as well.
Meanwhile, Sarri's Chelsea may see him as a possible addition due to the aging Fabregas and the fact Aaron's family are settled in London.
There would be no shortage of suitors for Ramsey.
All I'm saying is, and I guess we will never know, but if there ever was a bid in excess of £30m or above for Aaron, and we said no, then we are complete idiots.

I don't think we are disagreeing on anything, Samir.
The point I am trying to make is that club scouts do look at more than statistics. We aren't talking about players worth <100k. These are multi-million pound entities that scouts spend years following. I think we as fans are guilty sometimes of thinking players being bought based on their score on FIFA. I don't think there was any interest from Chelsea or Man Utd in fact. I believe it was all his agent talking. If you think back to the sale of Oxlade, Liverpool outbid Chelsea when there was real interest with one season to go. Man City tried to strong arm us regarding Alexis and Man Utd stepped in. Even the link to Milan to me seemed very suspect.
If there is or was interest Arsenal would have signed him and sold him. I think Ramsey may well end up in a mid table club with pretensions.

Oh I don't doubt this for one second. Of course they do observe performances.
But I find it hard to believe they will look at every single performance over the last 4-5 years and see how he's progressed/what needs to improve, for example.
Not to the extent we do as Arsenal fans anyway.
When we signed Gabriel Paulista and even Mustafi, statistically, they were right at the top for tackles, interceptions, duels won, passing completion % etc in La Liga. Obviously this wasn't the only factor in us acquiring these players, but looking at their statistics clearly influenced the decision to bid for them. Yet both players, for whatever reason, had/have not been good signings for us.
That's what I mean when I say the numbers can be deceptive when people look at the quantitative factors to support their purchases.

I can understand why the club kept Ramsey in the Summer but it was 100% the wrong decision.
He is nowhere near good enough to take us where we want to be and is easily replaceable. Been saying for ages we need to cash in but it’s too late now, we will get fack all for him in January. I can’t believe that he is soon to turn 28 and people still go on about the potential player he can turn into, the guy is a fraud living off 1 season of which he spent half of it injured.

Also I laughed when he went off against Everton on the weekend and the commentator was going on about how popular and universally loved Ramsey is by Arsenal fans. Nearly every Arsenal fan I know hates him and on here/twitter he ain’t winning popularity contests either. You just know they are building up to this massive blow his departure will cause Arsenal when most people will be happy to see the back of him

Very good point Batmanu.
I was listening to talksport in the morn coming back from a meeting. They had an Arsenal fan with kids who came to last game. All the players were apparently signing autographs and taking selfies. The only player who refused and walked straight to his car was Ramsey. I think they had Dean Saunders on defending and he was taken aback. I have never met Ramsey but taken anecdotally don't think he is a very nice bloke.

I know this was put out to defend Wenger a year ago because lets face it for £75m Mustafi and Xhaka are absolute wtf. Something abt a statistics agency forced Wenger to buy these players cause of moneyball. I have to question the whole thing. If Wenger was so divorced from doing hard work by actually watching these players why the feck wasn't he fired years ago? I actually believe that Wenger missed Dein and if you look at our signings before 2007 to those after 2012 there is stark difference. In the last 6/7 years I think only Alexis has been a super hit and he was proven. Compare that to before 2007/8 and the likes of Henry, Anelka, Vieira, Overmars, Gilberto, Sol, Kolo, Lauren, Freddie, Pires, RVP, Cesc, Adebayor, Nasri, Rosicky. All bought by Dein and Wenger togther.
