Alan Pardew

Just thinking about British Managers, in particular Alan Pardew, and the complaint that we often hear about "English Managers aren't being given a chance," etc..Now, since he signed the 8 year NUFC deal:

Newcastle paid £3.5m by Palace for Pardew
Pardew does that iconic dance thing at Wembley (Career highlight)
Pardew is paid £5m when sacked by Palace
Pardew is hired by West Brom
Pardew is sacked after four months at West Brom

No doubt however Pardew will soon turn up at another club, because "They won't get relegated with Pardew," or some other such rubbish.from the Press.

There does still seem to be a group of seriously average English Managers (Pardew, Bruce, Curbishley, Hodgson, Fat Sam Etc.,) who are on a constant merry-go-round of short-term appointments to bottom-half clubs hopinmg to scrap past relegation ever year. Honestly, how is the Eglisg game expecting to improve, or to see new young managers coming through, until we get rid of these usless dinosaurs?

Curbishley The guy hasn't had a job in a decade.

You've lost it.

When was the last time Curbishly managed a club?

That's what I was thinking.

Anyway, they aren't great managers, but I think it is fair to say English managers don't always get the bigger opportunities, and that there are plenty of foreign managers no better. Are Grant or Di Matteo any better for example?

The foreign equivalent at the moment seems to be Silva. It remains to be seen if he can turn things around at Everton, but at the moment it's not been better than Allardyce results wise, and at least Allardyce and Hodgson managed to keep a relegation threatened club up.

What about Ronald Koeman? We were all told how fantastic he was going to be at Everton and he was absolute chit!

You got Curbishley but missed out Mark Hughes , the worst offender of the lot. A thoroughly terrible manager.

Claude Puel is the finest example of a dreadful foreign coach i can think of being given a second chance in the PL recently.

Should have been given more time IMO, despite how it was going for him. He had 3 decent seasons (including at Saints) and then the first sign of trouble with a bunch of new players, they get rid.

All are better than Mourinho who is dismantling club after club in the last few years.

Why would anyone give Koeman time after he bought 5 numbers 10s for 1 team

As I've said, he had 3 decent seasons running getting 60 points or more in each with 2 teams outside the top 6. That's a very good achievement. Have Hodgson or Allardyce even once got over 60 points in the PL in their long careers?

Think he deserved a little more than getting until October at Everton in his 2nd season.

Moyes got the United job.

Hughes got the City job.

Roy got the Liverpool and England jobs.

Allardyce got the Newcastle job (which was pretty massive at the time) and a chance at Everton to prove he can build a club instead of just firefighting.

McLaren got the England job.

British managers have had big chances, they just don't take them!!!!

Redknapp is the only one who's really took his chance at a big team.
