Rafa Aware of Leicester Defence Frailties

Heard Rafa on radio Leicester tonight talking about Leicester's defensive issues, he wouldn't go into it in detail for obvious reasons.

Now I wonder where Newcastle will target??

With Newcastle struggling in the relegation zone, struggling to score so far this Season, must be a home banker surely?

What can Puel do to avoid Newcastle running riot, will he have suicide tactics like against Bournemouth and throw his defence to the wolves or come up with a master plan?

So who goes RB and who goes in front of him?

KTF suggested that Newcastle might sit back, Even Rafa would get lynched in Toon Town if he did that against Leicester.

Yes True,

That’s why I countered with it against a positive about Puel. I think it’s a bit of both and whilst there is an argument for it being more one than the other, I think there are some mistakes that have simply been just down to the player.

I don’t know, Bournemouth aside, how many come from issues down the right to be honest. My immediate thoughts are that it’s perhaps not as much as we’d imagine. But it clearly has been an issue in some games but I expect Puel to continue to arrest that problem by sticking with Amartey

I think Newcastle will sit back involuntarily. They just aren’t that good going forward

Amartey right back and I think he may play Ghezzal in front. It wouldn’t completely surprise me if Pereira played there and I don’t actually, see any issues with him playing RW if Amartey plays his usual way from the perspective of being less pro active with how he gets forward

Which begs the question then, why is Simpson out in the wilderness and not suitable to play if Amartey is going to play the same way?

I had exactly that thought too. And I’m sure if Amartey proves to adequate Puel will have to deal with that question. The perfect scenario would be Amartey offers that same (or at least adequate) defensive cover and proves more attacking intent that Simpson to justify his inclusion (although still: it doesn’t really answer the question as to why Simpson wasn’t in the squad at all I. Some ways)

Question answered in relation to the right wing

Only in the selection, not in the effect.

I think Puel is going to try to get Pereira/Ricardo in anyway he can but on this occasion, I can see his thought process because he is excellent at dribbling with pace and having two right sided players, in theory, who can both play midfield and defence should, again ‘in theory’ make for a cohesive pairing.

If things aren’t working, I could see Iheanacho comingg off, Maddison moving across and Ghezzal being brought in on the left. Not that I don’t like Albrighton, Just have a feeling that Puel doesn’t
