two away wins and two clean sheets for our dysfunctional team and poor defense.

Yeah they look certain for the drop unless they strengthen in Jan.

Grinding out a win when we didn’t play particular well is a positive for me.
And Maddison continues his excellent start to the season with regard to his contribution - 3 goals and 2 assists So far. Is pretty much guaranteed to be in the England squad come next Thursday announcement IMO.

Let's face it we've never had a good solid season where we churn out results and finish mid-table since the O'Neill days. It's either been flirting with relegation and changing managers or winning the Premier League.
I'd be happy with mid table this season if I don't spend all my time worrying about the relegation places. So far so good and this win was of the type that delivers that kind of form: unspectacular, but professional against a poor team and three points banked.
I'm hoping that this and Nev's smugness, continues to the end of the season. It would be good if we could have some stability for a change and build on it next season. I'm still not convinced of Puel's plan, but all he can do is keep results like this coming and me and any other fans will naturally follow. All except those that want Puel and Leicester to fail just so they're proven right.

Can someone explain to me how we're winning whilst playing poorly? Note - I'm just going by this thread as I didn't see or hear the game today.
Jeepers, if we carry on this way we'll never get rid of Puel!

We certainly didn’t play bad today. I think it’s one of the most comfortable games I’ve see us play but my god Newcastle are woeful . We played some very neat stuff in midfield but unspectacular as usual up front with very few efforts / clear cut chances. A decent performance anyway Onwards and upwards
