Dublin needs a wheelchair

So im looking for some help on how to fund raise to get my wheelchair,
As I live on my own it needs to be electric and have the ability to go anywhere
Mobility will use my pip to get a van and adoptions and I can't get a loan as no recognised income and pip won't do van & chair and as I live in a village one without the other is rather pointless and although gives some mobility still leaves me isolated !

If anyone has experience of serious fund raising could they offer me some help,
Properly written begging letter?
Maybe its worth paying to have the fundraising done?

Im only just starting, there are some grants I can apply for
And a few charities but when looking for help with bills before they tend to want you to have been working the last 5 years in a related industry,

Ive tested several chairs they range from £10'000 for the base to £18'000 Depending on adaptations required

Im waiting for a quote at the minute and expect it to be
Around £15'000
Thanks dublin

Are you looking for something like this?

http://allterrainwheelchairs.co.uk/gallery/

Those look cool. Dont get me wrong, its bad that you need a wheelchair, but some of those look badass.

Very simular
For me that model is £18k
Ive found similar for £15
They really give you full independence
And if going out with family or friends there not restricted by places to go because your in a chair

Dublin, I don’t have great experience in fund raising but feels like there are a few things that could help (some you may have explored):

1. Find a way of raising your issue with the club and get their help raising cash. I guess as a community this may be the area we can help the most.

2. Contact organisations and charities who may be able to help your cause.

3. Organise your own events with the helps of others advice (please step in people as I’m not great here).

On point 1. My first question in this forum is: does anyone know who we’d need to contact at the club that deals with charitable causes and if they could support in any way?

Let’s start there.

I’d love to help more and I can investigate how to contact the club on your behalf if nobody else knows who and how.

I work for a company who build wheelchairs and 10-15k seems a bit steep. Anyway I believe you can get the VAT discounted if you're registered which will save you 20%.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There is no vat,
Can your chairs go across a field,or through a wood,on the beach ?
,any links to a site ?
Thanks

Nope. Try John Preston or Made for Movement. I believe John Preston's add power options to existing wheelchairs which may be a cheaper option.

Hi Dublin

Not sure if you've already done this but Google shows plenty of places to trawl through for Grants?

Guessing from your username you live in Cambridge?

Try: http://www.cambridgecvs.org.uk

They will certainly have good knowledge of any groups who could support you and any charitable grants you could apply for.

You may already know about the DLF Dublin, but their website is a mine of info on powered wheelchairs (and much else besides).

general database:
https://data.dlf.org.uk

Powered wheelchair database:
https://data.dlf.org.uk/group.php?groupid=2079&sortname

I only know about them because my ex worked there years ago – mostly geared to organisations rather than individuals, but a comprehensive database of what's available.

How about someone contacting the Birch and seeing if his charitable fund raising at the club could help out?

Anyone know him?

Consider setting up a PayPal account for donations. If you report it to paypal as a good cause, they might wave the payment fees.
