Didn’t realise he was the highest paid player in British football history.

So glad we walked away from his demands.

The Green and Gold Brigade were not right as the OP suggests. Fergie, Gill together with the backing and support of the owners got it just about right for many years.

If Jose didn't want Sanchez he would not keep playing him.

The delusional ones will always find a way to support Jose while ignoring Joses' actual actions.

Disagree with this, if two of three components of that success leave, and the owners don't have any strategy in place (even allowing for the first couple of years post Fergie), then it's firmly on them.

They chose a money man to combine his role where he excelled at increasing revenue streams with a job he had no previous experience in. Yes it is Ed's job to sign players and ultimately appoint the manager, but the Glazer's gave him that job.

They were lucky they had a wealth of football knowledge and possibly the greatest manager in world football to navigate those years. What we are seeing now, is not just Jose, the players or Ed. It's a lot of chickens coming home to roost re: the Glazer's lack of interest over footballing matters. (Ironically probably why Fergie liked them, no hassle because no interest)

I too think the Glazers are at fault. Fair enough, they are not football men they are business men, if they know anything about sport it will be American sport.
So they should have appointed a chief executive with football knowledge, let Ed improve revenue streams and let a football man run that side of the club together with the manager and another board member who knows the game.
It's not too late, appoint the right man ( easier said than done I know) set up short term, medium term and long term goals. How to achieve them, discuss it with the manager. Take into account fans concerns regarding entertainment, attacking football, bringing through young players where possible, in fact protect our heritage for want of a better word.

According to Jose, and (still) a few others, United currently have the greatest manager in World football, who also, as Fergie did, should therefore be capable of navigating the football side of things.

To my knowledge, on the commercial side of things, of which Ed is mainly responsible for, the cash is still rolling in.

You are making excuses for Jose's ineptness as a modern day football manager.

I don't think they are delusional, just utterly stupid.

On the article itself.

I read it, but it doesn't really come up with anything we don't already know.

We have all known, for a long while now, that the club has been poorly run since SAF and Gill walked out the door.

VC, yes we have known, but the blame has been laid at the managers door, or Eds door, and though both are culpable the buck stops with the Glazers.
Barney puts elegantly into words what we think. He always makes me think about my own viewpoint, and generally I side with him.

I think everyone knows the buck stops with the Glazers. They are the owners. They should never have put Ed in charge of anything football related.
