QPR 1 - 1 Derby County

Loftus Road
London
1500
6 Oct 2018

As the slightly stuttering performances continue to play themselves out in front of the phlegmatic Faithful, Derby County travel to London to play the 'Oops - the team that shattered the dream and will very predictably be entertain us with an ode about one Bobby Zamora.

If younthink that we have struggled to find the net, QPR have scored only 8 goals in this campaign but saying that they do have a habit of clean sheets so expect a 0-0.

There is now an expectation that changes are due, not that the players we expect to make way have let the side down but rather we would like a different approach. Curtis Davies is in contention as is TL who unfortunately did little to impress on Tuesday. Waghorn for Nugent?

to the Faithful making the trip down, let's hope it will be a happy trip back .

*RAISING THE BAR*

If someone you loved was killed in front of you, but someone created a copy of them that was perfect right down to the atomic level, would they be the same person and would you love them just as much?

Team:-

Carson
Forsyth
Bryson
Tomori
Keogh
Mount
Lawrence
Jozefzoon
Marriott
Johnson
Bogle

Subs: Wilson, Waghorn, Roos, Nugent, Davies, Huddlestone, Malone

Agree about shooting from distance more though

I think it was after the reading game when mount scored the equaliser with a pot shot from outside the box, Frank saying he wants him to do that and would encourage it.

Just for the record, in no way shape or form am I in any way disatsfied with the start we have made under Frank. He's bought some very good young players into the club, albeit 2 of them on loan, but would we have even got a sniff of them under Rowett? I think not. It's still very early into his tenure and he is trying to change the ethos of the club after 3 seasons of dour crap under Clement, Pearson and Rowett. That won't happen overnight but there are signs it's heading in the right direction. The league so far is very tight, there are 5 points separating 5th from 18th. The cliche of anyone can beat anyone is actually true, only a couple of weeks ago a "poor" Birmingham side won at elland road, who saw that coming? Frank and his team have my 100% support.

I agree with much that you say Harps, except that we have 3 loanees down to Frank and his reputation. Wilson, Tomori and Mount. Also he is inspiring most of our players to perform better and Marriott will turn out to be a brilliant signing. (IMHO)

Have I said I want GR back? I never wanted him appointed in the 1st place.

Yesterday in my eyes the lack of chances created wasn’t good enough yesterday against a poor team. It took 88 mins to have a shot against Bolton last weekend. Blame the ref as much as you want for their free kick but he should have been more than1 goal ahead by then. The international break as come at the right time. Time to re group and get things sorted on the training ground ready for some tough games coming up. Can’t u derstand why mount isn’t shooting more from outside the box. He has the capacity to do so.

As has been mentioned there is little difference between most of the teams in the division. Games are usually decided not by one team outplaying the other but by individual moments going for or against you. That’s why managers get so frustrated by things like yesterday’s free kick because very often such things do decide the match. QPR seemed to create little otherwise based on reports and on the highlights and had we won 1-0 the take on the performance would be entirely different.

I agree we aren’t shooting enough. Mount’s goal at Reading shows that you can get lucky if you get a decent strike away and Lampard scored most of his goals from outside the box so he knows it too. But you’ve got to manoeuvre it a bit first to get a clear shot. We’ve shown we can break into space quickly but when the opposition is all in front of us we are just running into dead ends a bit. When space is very tight you need players on the same wavelength to move it quickly and that type of understanding can take time.

You're right ramdini, and I knew tomori was on loan, yet for some reason I had a brain fart and at the time I was writing that comment believed he was here permanently.

QPR were better than I expected, we were okay (6/10, maybe 7?) but can be better.

It wasn't a free kick for their equaliser BUT we could have had 2 penalties given against us instead.

And there's not much else to add except that I also think Marriott can be what we have missed for years - a genuine 25+ a season goal poacher.

Begs the questions why it’s taken 12 games for him to start

Good question, but maybe he wasn't fit?

QPR were always going to be well motivated - what with recent history and shared managers. That should not come as surprise. Championship games seem to be often decided by motivation rather than tactics or individual skills. Of course Derby were equally well motivated, which probably accounts for a somewhat phrenetic game. Referee hazard accounted for us not getting 3 points and of course the ref gets away Scot free with their mistakes which are often accompanied by very severe consequences. (Bobby Madley v Burnley and they are still in the Premiership))
